Origin of the 'GATW' phrase?
I was playing some old £15 JP machines on the MFME emulator last night, curious to see what fruit machines were like before my 'era'. One of the machines was Reely Crazy by Bell Fruit. A bit unconventional in terms of gameplay but the theming was similar to Crazy Fruits. Anyway, the pre-game trail went all red (like it does on Pony Express) and the alpha display wrote go all the way. I thought GATW was purely a DOND thing (although I'm pretty sure that Noel doesn't say it in those words). Reely Crazy is some 10-odd years old. I'm just interested if that was the machine it came from, and if not, how was the phrase coined?

I think it was definitely Bell Fruit. The period you're suggesting sounds about right to me. Not sure if I saw it anywhere before.
One of my favourite Invincible Mode signs was: "Red Sky At Night - Players' Delight!"
And the best one; Extreme's Cashino: "Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinvincible!!!"

"And do you ever contradict yourself, Minister?" "Well, yes and no..."
What are peoples own slang for the modern day GATW ??
I still to this day call it a Red Tank on any machine that turns red on IM dating right the way back to it's a Knockout that had the watertank that turned red

[quote="Matt Vinyl"]And the best one] probs the best im on a machine, suprisingly seen people collect wins on this when its screamed invincible at them. The clueless of some people that play machines baffle the fook out of me. Another good one was crazy fruits 'mad for it' i'm pretty sure theres been an earlier gatw if it comes to me i'll post. Also always called it a flash right back to days of old

Ahhhhhhh, I fell for that too! Mind you, I've had a few pints by that time, but nonetheless, I played, lost then looked upwards and saw the name of the machine. Facepalm moment for me :-)bowie wrote:I remember when i was just getting into it i was playing a machine a pub in Glasgow, my first board flashed the word 'INVINCIBLE' on the led, the board lost second gamble, at first i was like eh? Till i realised the name of the machine i was playing. Invincible.

'So little to do, and so much time!' was the excellent proclamation from Just The Ticket .. loved that!
Motorway Madness did the same as Crazy Fruits and Money To Burn, saying 'Mad For It', didn't it?
GATW on the alpha is a comparatively recent thing - Rich Geezer, Legionnaire, etc used to just do a flash; Pharoah's Gold was one of the first BFMs to say GATW methinks ....
The first time I really became conscious of an IM board of any description was noticing the logo on JPM's Casino Las Vegas change colour, and the first time I clocked an IM that was worthy of ignoring in order to up-the-win was The Great Escape.

This machine may at times offer a choice where the player has every chance of bankruptcy
