if the industry didn't challenge thd increase it would set the path for further I creases in the future. Its not the same as tabbaco and alcohol, where the duty is paid by the customer, and those selling fuels don't care about the tax since the profits are not made at the point of sale in this this country.

perhaps it should go back to taxing winnings at say 20%, do when you win a 500 jackpot you only get 400 at the counter. Ofcourse you could have the choice of paying say £2.40 stake instead of £2... then keep all the winnings.
Of course the tax is paid by the customer. If customers didnt put money in the machines there'd be no profits to tax.

If tax were to go up they can get around this by lowering payout %s to keep their cut the same. Obviously this makes for a less appealing game to the punter though.

Tax is declared on profits, could just as well make no profits by spending the take. By taxing the winnings its not optional.

Lowering rtp does not equal more profit.
