Enjoying your festival of nostalgia there grecian, though it's a little depressing comparing this to the dross cast before us these days.
Just out of interest do you still play and if so, what?

A fool and his profits from the machines will be easily parted , if he tells all and sundry what his best games are.I thought many years ago that the jackpot on a certain game was unattainable until a buffoon told me he was getting jackpots from it.Consequently my profits soared and his dived. Its better that players specialise in different games.Be vigilante and prudent not foolish!

Slightly defensive attitude there Mr.Bilks.
I was merely trying to engage some chat from a new member to see where his interests lay.
If it was merely every man for himself then there really wouldn't be any point in having this forum at all. This forum has allowed me to realise that there are a few other folk out there like myself and if I can help them out I certainly will.
The notion of specialising on certain games is pretty naive incidentally.I think we all know that the majority of games these days offer nothing like the gameplay/profits of the standalone era and that even if you had access to the entire question bank you could be taken round in circles/along a never-ending trail ad infinitum.
I do take your point that perhaps you shouldn't shout any quality info from the rooftops but that's quite different from asking someone what games they're into at the moment.

I'll play a bit of everything and anything if it's a quiz game (can't be doing with the Word Up type games I'm afraid, tho' very impressed with the professionalism of some of the people on this group from my first read today). I'll still play the old faves wherever I find them - Hangman, 'classic' WWTBAM, 'classic' Cluedo, Weakest Link. Chuck into the mix things like Bullseye, Ant & Dec, Donkey Derby, Haunted House, Pepsi Chart Quiz and there's a reasonable amount of enjoyable games about.

That said, there's been a change in the payout pattern of your average machine since the halcyon days of the late 90s. Then it was more difficult for Joe Public to bag even a quid off some games, but much easier for the more professional play to stroll along and claim a 20 or 40. Nowadays, some games seem to give out a quid every time but anything bigger is very elusive.

I might add this group looks very impressive. I've been playing machines since 1996 with varying degrees of success in that time, and in that time have despaired of the absence / paucity of machine-related material on the net. At one point I toyed with producing a guide to quiz machines but decided not to give away any "trade secrets"! But good to be able to chat with like minds in this forum.

good to have you aboard Grecian (could you be the only other ECFC supporter?)
as for my favourite ever game for making money it would have to be spelvin. very niche but very easy to milk for JPs.
i don't have the patience for WWTBAM and similar but i know i'm in the minority on this.

Are you a City supporter too then Unknown? Yes, that's where the name comes from, although I've only seen them about five times in the fifteen years or so I've been a fan... pathetic.

Not sure I remember Spelvin at all. Is it about any more?

well i wouldn't say supporter but i do have an exeter shirt and i've been a couple of times.
anyhow spelvin was on early itboxes for about a fortnight during which time, playing only part-time, i must have made better money per hour than bill gates. you can still play an online version of it i think.

I'm at work, so can't play games (of course, posting on gambling forums is okay).

What did you do? Was it a quiz or a game of skill???

did you go to the Exeter City game which Michael Jackson attended?

no i didn't but i was walking by there in the morning and there were huge crowds.

Here's a game of spelvin for you
(find a seven letter word, a six, a five, a four and a three from this):

ARIPEST

do it five times in a minute and leisure link will give you £20

Will you give me £40 for getting 2 seven letter words out of that?

leisure link would have done
i dare say that when Bob comes by he will inform us that there are 300 allowable scrabble words from that selection.

to be fair the game was a little more complicated than i make out. but not much.

Did the game require you to get specific words or any allowable word? i.e. if you put PIRATES would that definitely be OK or might it reject it as the word it wanted was PASTIER or PARTIES?

I've been away for a few days but couldn't let this one pass. How does simply telling someone that Jackpots are "available" mean they can suddenly start winning when they weren't able to previously? Unless there is some hidden secret on a particular game that is only revealed to the few, the only way you are going to be able to win is by having the same combination of memory, speed, general and/or specific knowledge and particularly hard work and dedication that you needed before you were told.

Why were you not able to work out for yourself that Jackpots were available on that particular game? I can't think of any major game where a secret trick was available that allowed you to win easily once you knew it. There are obvious minor 'tricks' such as trying to go for the 'wrong' 6 out of 12 on the old Guinness Book of Records thereby giving you a much better chance of getting the correct 6 from 12 on your second and third go, and special skills such as that visual one that helps with Spot the Difference but if I were to announce to the Fruitchat world now that classic Millionaire is a good source of Jackpots when you catch it right, how would that on its own help someone start winning those Jackpots?

I could also tell you 20 current games that aren't worth touching with someone else's bargepole if you were interested...

If you're interested mr.satis there were 'tricks' for the original monopoly,
cluedo standalone and trivial pursuit (not the one with the freaky dancing baby thing!).Will be happy to expand on this if you wish.
