Refill days

Whats the deal with refil days, how do they affect a machine? ive heard about refil days on many forums but dont understand them. is it good to play on refill day or not or the day before or after?

Refill day is when they fill the hopper back full of coins, it doesn't affect the machine play but the machine may back which some players take as a good sign due to the machine being full.

Backing is where the hopper is full and the coins drop down into the cash tray at the bottom, which you will be able to hear.

why do they need to fill them up, surely the machine should be able to take care of itself?

1 - To dissuade players knowing the true balance of a machine

2 - To eliminate empty hopper problems and allow more notes to be used

The company I work for insist on daily refills - makes it really hard for anyone to gauge what state the machine has been left in.

We've got awful machines (for our customers) as well - Show Time, Jiggy Bank, FNC & ROTJ - all will easily mug you off for a quick £10 in and no board.

I was playing an old Arabian Knights the other day - how I miss those sorts of machine.

Anyway, I post very rarely and am not a 'player' - just thought i'd leave my tuppence worth.

I think it basically makes it easier to audit the machine and also in the case of notechangers, provides a good float for change.

daily refills are getting more widespread too...
handy if you've got a p1 p5 on the go, but a ball-ache else, ive just started jotting down the numbers on the refill-counter to find out whats been had out.

very good tip mr wombat i've often thought about doing this but not had to worry about refills where i play until recently. these meters are required by law,and cannot even be disconnected ,as the machine will alarm .bastards may cover them up though but i doubt it.

yeah often thought they would only make these accessible from the interior of the cabinet?

Also don't forget that you could stand and play a machine with £2 coins or 50p/20p/10p/5p coins - so although the venue would still have the same takings, eventually the machine would be unable to payout and fruit machines would have a very bad reputation.

Just as an illustration on this - 4 machines refilled yesterday to the tune of £398 between the 4 - scary to think of the pitfalls if you didn't understand about refills...

Not too sure about the practicality of writing down the figures on the refill meters of all the machines you would play - certainly couldn't see myself pulling out a notebook and flipping through looking for the figures for machine X - however, anything that gives you a clue has to be good, right?
