I can't remember a time when peep's were not moaning that the machines were better a couple years ago.

Don't think that will ever change, however one thing is clear, 90% of regular Joe's do not play them anymore. The machines are going to have to be changed big style for them to come back, £35 Jp slottos in pubs perhaps...??

do you know how many times ive seen that posted on these message boards...

its been posted every year for about ten years..
under more or less the same title..

theres not many people who post anymore that have been using the internet sites as long as i have, but if you had been, then you would realise how pointless this entire thread is.

Spyder, there's an element of truth in that fact, but I do think it is different now. Look at the cost of everything else in life? Look at the price of your pint, the price of your petrol (moreso: Diesel!), the price of your food shopping.

The increase in 'life costs' simply means that Joe Public will not even want to waste a fiver in a machine that lasts less than a minute. And there is a definite downturn in machine activity in, currently still, popular pubs. Spoons are a classic example. I visit mine every Friday, sometimes at peak times (12:00-14:00) and evening, and you are almost guaranteed your choice of machine to play. 5 years back or so, they'd be played all night, and if you managed to get on one, you'd be lucky!

It may sound ridiculous comparing things that are so important such as food and fuel costs to 'Fruit machine playability and profitability' but it does have an effect...

It's simple really, the £25 to £35 jump was never going to be a good idea, and with the economy as it is, no one's going to be playing fruit machines.

The companies have f**ked themselves royally, all they've done is make it impossible for the target audiences to play machines, meaning that yet again less cash goes in which means yet again the price of play will go up.

yes, it's been said time and time again, and hopefully things will improve, thing is there's too many "players" playing machines, and too few munters; not only because people have less money to waste at the moment, but the fact your common pub goer these days realises that players come in and rape the machines, leaving them fuck all chance to win.

Yep the concept of 'professional players' is definitely more firmly embedded on the average schmuck's psyche than it ever was before.

On Mock the Week a year or so back, David Mitchell (off Peep Show/That Mitchell And Webb Look/Apple Mac ads etc) stated "I know there are people who can always make money off fruit machines".
I don't know if Superhans told him that or not, but when that sort of thing gets said seriously on a prime time panel show then it just goes to show it's hardly a hush hush urban myth any more is it?
Ten years ago he'd have been saying 'There's only one winner on those things'.

ive seriously cut down on playing fruits after getting f**ked over a few weeks ago, think i did create a topic! not that i was hardcore in the first place like! but ive limited myself to £2-£3 a machine and maybe a few quid later on if ive seen someone else (probably would be me another day) throw a fair few quid in. Its been working out well!

DAY 1
£3 in Jiggy Bank - BG for £25.
£2 in R2R - £12.

DAY 2
£3 in Big reds - DOND - £22.

DAY 3
£4 in gunpowder slot - for about £8 or £10.

Ive lost my £2 - £3's in other machines but just left it at that and not gone on to "play for a board", ive been lucky on the above but didnt throw all the winnings back in the machine or try another, which from the selection above wouldnt be a good idea!

So at the end of the day with the way fruits have gone the most im now willing to put in is the price of a pint, this would not of been the case this time 2 years ago.

Exceptions being extremely good methods/emptiers for obvious reasons.
