Where would you draw the line ??
Where would you draw the line ??
Think about this carefully before answering : be true to yourself rather than go for the morally correct answer :
Here's the scenario. You are in a pub playing lets say an Invincible for the sake of argument. It's buzzing up nicely but being slightly stubborn, so even though it's due and has been redding up and at the £10 for a while you are about £80 into it. You are then presented with the following situations : each situation requires you to leave the machine with no option to hold it or return to it again that day.
Scenario 1) Against your better judgement you get involved with the machine knowing you are due to meet some mates for a beer shortly at another location. You know that if the machine plays ball then all is good, as it happens the machine plays up and the mobile rings, it's one of your mates (non playing social drinking) wondering where you are. Can you leave at this point ??
Scenario 2) You are playing the machine and you are due back to the wife/girlfriend in a few minutes. She has cooked a nice meal and you are expecting guests round and it would look bad if you turned up after your guests.
Scenario 3) Even though you weren't on a schedule, a sudden phone call from a family member requires you to leave immediately due to some bad news regarding an accident of some sort and one of your relatives has been taken to hospital. The relative is being cared for by the doctors at this point but the situation is serious enough for you to get there quickly, but it is not life threatening. Is it serious enough that you can allow the extra 20 mins or so to play out the machine ?
Scenario 4) It's been a bad month financially. You have to get this Invincible to yield some profit. You are down to your last £30 on the buzzed up machine. The £30 would sort your food out for the next week and going bust would have severe consequences on your relationship with your wife/girlfriend and leave you scraping around to buy some basics.
Scenario 5) Your wife/girlfriend/friend looks at you and in the sincerest way simply tells you to please stop playing..right now. No anger, just concern. They look scared.
I for one know that I couldn't leave the machine for all of those situations. I don't actually like admitting to myself how many it actually is where I'd stay on the machine.

scene 1 , i'd just say i'd be there soon as poss and no way i'm doing the absynthe
scene 2 , i'd let someone i knew have it , but probably wouldn't be playing in this situation though.
scene 3 , spose i'd go to the hospital immediately if a relative nearby was hurt.
scene 4 , i'd ponder on what a bummer of a month it had been ,then continue and hopefully pull it back a bit .
scene 5 , i'd have to reluctantly comply and hope that everythings o.k

Scenario 1: Against my better judgement I would probably say I have been held up and would be there as soon as possible (maybe take a taxi to make up some time when it pays out).
Scenario 2: Answer would be to not get in that position in the first place,
Scenario 3: Leave, family is far more important.
Scenario 4: You should never be playing with money you can’t afford to lose.
Scenario 5: For the wife/girlfriend/close friend I would leave.
