Was talking in the workies club about a steward who left. Turns out he was robbing cops and robbers blind. Most clubs have their own keys to empty the machines so what he was doing was opening it up, lining up the jackpots by hand or a large 4 of a kind and then stealing that amount and then saying to staff "look" i have won this or doing it after hours so it would get noticed the next day. They said he must have got thousands before he was caught
I think someones telling you porkies. If he opened the machine and lined up a win - the reels would reset to the original position when the door was closed again!
I know what you mean as i had a club in my room a while back but thats just what i got told. The people who empty it dont have a clue like as i see them do it all the time they just dump it then top up and count the left over pounds and silver

I guess he must have switched it off, opened it, taken out money, lined up the reels and then in the morning said "look what I won last night" before switching the machine on again.
Still can't believe that the people who came to empty it were so useless they failed to take meter readings though.

I have audited a few social clubs that own there own machines, they knew there were counters but never in the last 5 years had they ever taken any readings as they did not know how to use them.
As long as there was money at the bottom of the machine they were happy.
Our social club made £34,000 profit last year. The fruit machines made approximately £45,000, the bar lost about £6,000 (after salaries). The rest was room hire income, food and paying out for coach trips, entertainment, repairs and buying trophies.
Our stewards used to rip the m/cs off aswell, they got £1,000's but then got caught. I don;t think they ever got prosecuted though. There was supposed to be 3 people checking each other's figures, funny that all 3 were in on it together!
