State Benefits
sorry mate, I'm just not believing that. JSA is a personal allowance. what your girlfriend earns should have no bearing. It would obviously effect things like housing benefit, child tax credit, etc but your JSA claim should surely be your own.
That said, it's been a long time since I signed on, so I guess the system could of changed.
Anyway, working and contributing to society, not just financially but productively is more rewarding than just looking out for number one. Personal development is greatly enhanced by doing things that benefit others, with out tangable reward.
Good Karma dudes.

I think there is some view here that I disagree with everything you say, Ma71lda, but I can assure you that isn't the case. But please remember that JSA is a benefit paid from government coffers, ie. the taxpayer, ie. me, so when people advocate paying money that I have contributed in good faith to people who aren't entitled to it, I'm more than likely to feel a bit irked by it!ma71lda wrote:As usual Nixxy disagrees with me, or at least argues the toss - now there's a shock!!![]()
Don't get me wrong Anfield, or any player, should NOT be allowed to claim whether they earn/make £100 or a £1000. Yet, they could claim to be actively seeking work while they are out playing machines, bit of a grey area methinks.
As for foreigners/immigrants I totally and utterly disagree with you mate. Why the hell should they be allowed into the country and immediately claim everything? They are bleeding us dry taking up dental spaces, doctor appointments and claiming every benefit under the sun, personally I think there should be a timescale of how long they have to be in the country before they can claim and when they do claim how long the claim lasts for. Don't get me wrong, I don't think J Kyle watching, elevated cap wearing chavs should be allowed to doss all day but thats a different kettle of fish. (National Service, anyone?)
Maybe I'm being a tad bitter and grumpy but after 6 months of unemployment ( benefit-less) it starts to piss me off. I've gone from earning nearly £20k a year, to seeing similar jobs at 'meets national minimum wage' or £6 p/h - nice one. Even job agancies around here tend to only employ Poles because they don't fully know their rghts, therefore they don't argue back and all I get is 'give us your name and number and we'll get back to you.......', cheers. And yes, I genuinely believe the National Minimum Wage is as low as it is because of the influx of immigrants who'll work for £5.52p/h because its a hell of a lot more than they can earn in their own country.
NOT ALL FOREIGNERS/IMMIGRANTS ARE LEECHES, SOME ARE GRAFTERS BUT THOSE WHO AREN'T SHOULD BE SENT HOME.
I firmly believe that levels of immigration to this country need tighter controls, yes - but you cannot discourage from entering those who offer us skills and labour that we didn't already have, as it is a major factor in maintaining a such a strong economy (which benefits us all). Current policy is supposed to prevent those who don't qualify from entering our shores; as we all know that doesn't necessarily happen.
But it follows that those to whom we grant citizenship must be entitled to the same level of social/health service that we are. So if anyone's bleeding the system dry, it's ourselves by admitting these people in the first place!
None of this makes the payout of benefits any different though, so I don't see how anyone could be happier to see one person receive benefits that they aren't entitled to over someone who DOES qualify, regardless of where they originated.
I have to agree with PokerPete and add that if other peoples' circumstances are factored into your own when claiming JSA, then something is seriously wrong there.
This machine may at times offer a choice where the player has every chance of bankruptcy
True story, but not relevant in any way shape or form.
I help with a local church, and some african guy was telling me about how his mate tried to come over here on the grounds he was a Christian and he feared for his life where he was from on the grounds of his religion(True).
To prove that he was infact a christian, the authorities asked him some questions about christianity, and he had to show sufficient knowledge to be accepted, question one was....
How do you cook a Turkey
.
Also if you're not seeking a job you shouldn't claim IMO .

Just 90% of what I say, Nixxy.
This is what you expect of a forum isn't it - debates, opinions, experiences and people who come from different walks of life and backgrounds. We're not all going to sing from the same hymn sheet yet, we'll all probably agree with certain things each of us say.
Lets not forget though this is a Fruit Machime/Gambling forum, rather than a Politics one - we'll leave that $hit to David Dimbleby et al.
My girlfriend isn't a 6 month fling, we've been together for over 9 years, we have a 4 year old daughter and one on the way (marvellous
), we own our own home but we don't have the obligatory dog just yet. Therefore the Government class us as a 'married' couple but without the paperwork.

I was the same when i came out of work a while ago, cause my girlfriend was earning I wasn't entitled to a penny apart from NI contributions, apparently my partners wage of 20k is more than enough for a family of 4 to live onma71lda wrote:Just 90% of what I say, Nixxy.![]()

Well sparked a bit of debate this and now I will explain my situation,!
Played since the age of 16 (started getting good) never claimed anything at all for years. Then I got arreseted and a charge was money laundering and theft from aoutomated gaming machines and theft from a meter?!
Anyway the charge of money laundering which was a serious one I was told by my solicitor was becuase I had no proof of income and had £700 coins and notes on me!
solicitor said start claiming if you can as you are entitled to and then you have proof of some sort of income!
So I done that!
At least now the goverment know I excist and am looking for work?!, most people who are on here have never being nicked for playing but when you do and have to explain were money come from..... well then you may agree with me

I think for means tested JSA the lower limit is now £6k and the higher limit £16k. Above £6k your benefit is reduced by £1 for ever £250 up to £16k at which you get nothing.Extreme Eddie wrote:Is there not some kind of rule that anyone with over 3 grand in the bank (not sure if this is the correct amount) is not entitled to any money? I'm sure i've heard something along those lines.
anyone clued up on the subject?
This doesn't apply to NI contribution related JSA which you can get for limited period even if you are rich.
Thank you Fruiter.
My girlfriend has a net income of £450 p/w, but when you take into consideration all outgoings there isn't a great deal of pleasure money left over. There are people worse off than us in the world so I can't really complain.
Eddie, apparantly you can have £4k savings before it affects your benefits and even then it only reduces it for each hundred or thousand you have thereafter.

£850k in 40 years time should just be about enough money to half fill your 1.1 ford fiesta with fuel. Great stuff!ma71lda wrote:Here's something for you guys making £500+ p/w on machines and not making N.I. contributions. If you can afford to save £560 each month in an account with a decent rate of interest for 40 years, the amount you will have in the end (as long as you don't dip into it plus the compounded interest) would be approx £850k.
Not a bad little retirement nest egg!![]()
I fully agree with ma71lda, id rather one of you guys got it than some 5 minute lazy arse immigrent that has no intentions looking for work and within time bring a whole generation of the family over so they can all claim get a few houses then when theyve all settled in start signing some petitions get a mosk built, or some crack fiend whos gona feed his habbit, or this is the best! A drug dealer who makes more than any of you and still claims without fail! a few of em around here!! Then thier are the Frank Galagers of this world who spend it all on booze and drugs!
Id have no shame what so ever claiming! none at all. plus like anfield was advised you must have something on record to show were moneys coming from! Because if you dont its a possibilty you will get done for money laundering or whatever and all will be taken from you very easily by the very goverment you refused to take anything from but give everything!
Saying all this i actually have a full time job, always have done and hopefully always will have.
Also i dont believe thier is any law which states you cant make money from gambling whilst claiming benefits and at the same time regularly visiting the job centre looking for a job thats worth getting up in the morning for. The future looks bleak for the fruit machine industry make the most of it while you can. dont be a fool.
