Irritating Gala
Irritating Gala
Glorious weather.
12.10pm - 1:30 yields a £200(ish) profit.
Now. What should have happenned was that I go home. Mow the lawn. Fix a bike. Kick back, chill out and turn off. Maybe playing a couple of Cluedos + similar somewhere in that lot. Then drive 'er indoors to a hen night much later.
However I decide to stop off at a supermarket, as er indoors wants some yoghurt. The yoghurt of the desired flavour is not there. I should have seen that as an omen, gone home and buried my head underneath the pillow. Instead I go to Gala.
I see they have updated the GGGs, they now have a different 50p reel. It has cash values on, not BBB,XXX,XxX and <>.
Refill, but £35 off, blast on. Other two units being played. Still felt like lots of similarities, but at one point had a £20 game on 30p stake. Killed things for a bit, but came back. Finished what? About £25 down. Lost £10 on other bits and pieces. Tried a Monop. £80 off. Cost £120 for a £35 'repeat'. Some stray Xs, but that was that and then a £5, then £35. random flash uncle. Lost £35. About £70 down. Poached an old Barcrest thing. Tutti Frutti. £10 in for £25, left it. £1 in Elvis. Rolled in five thingymies for £15. Elvis sung at me for a bit. That was nice. Basically I fannied around, spawned some bars for cheap on another Monop and was about £35 down at that Gala all said and done. The other two units being played both did big repeat pots and both IOUd, looked like they'd only floated 'em to £125. Maybe someone new on the job. Shame as I was pretty sure they had value left in them. You know the score, can't do f'all until 5:30.
So I left yoghurtless and about £35 down. Still alright for the day +£165ish. So into the centre. You know how it is, walked past the Gala, what the 'eck, in a lo-tec frame of mind. Give it a go. Two grannies on the £25 Monops. Third one with 'machine being played' notice on. Decide to take on Casino King. Long story short, it's obvious someone has burnt them. All noteys on, but a £50 loss across three units. Then I decide to play a Crazy Fruits for no reason at all other than I'm here now and I can't just stand like a lemon (although a certain customer does at another branch and doesn't get asked to leave. If I did that, no doubt I'd be asked to leave.)
£90 in (not full) £40 in bank.
£190 in (just full) £70 in bank.
Right. Notechanger light was on from start. Is this some wierd DIP setting? £185ish off. Hmmmm. Also at this point I was £120 down.
Another £20 in, get keys. Up to £78, auto pays......Error.....error....dooo dooo do doooo.
Call engineer. Takes out hopper. Puts back in, now working. How about the streak? May have taken a credit. Nothing we can do, value will still be in machine. True, but may cost to get it.
I know Showboat would have given some free plays here. I would also have been given a bonus drink. Now quite thirsty, so have to pay premium prices for a 7 up.
So far £210 in for £78 back. Must be due.
Does me to % and I end up taking an £80 hit on this one. Why oh why oh why? Lovely 84% (or less) skanky percentage. Soon hits the pocket. Some of the 'games' may be 90%, but the older £25 stuff is just shite. Lo-tecs like this need to be on at least 90% for any sort of playability.
As for all these people who play in bingo halls and they're like 'this was holding first quid etc' well lucky them, but it seems I've got the grannies from hell to play against. Sucking out every last drop of value. I should have driven to f'ing Mimms, more chance there. Seriously.
So now £35 up on the day.
Burn £5 in a Devil Slotto thing. No good.
However, as I have £120ish in coins to change, it's over to the desk. I did have £240ish in coins at one point and was just starting to reach that hedonistic shoulder ache stage. One solution to problem I suppose, spunk it all in a load of crap.
I hand them to girl on desk. Now at the other branch, they change them up within a couple of minutes. No probs. Here, she disappears. Tick tock. 5 minutes pass. I watch the Monops and desk. Aha! Someone appears to have left some value in one of the Monopolys.
15 minutes for change. To rub insult to injury, when she came back with my notes, someone floated up for change and was served instantly, whilst I was left waiting longer for my notes. What's this? A case of he who waves, or shouts loudest gets served first? Yes, so it would seem.
Monopoly. £2 in for a £5 feature. Rolls in £10 later, £10 feature. Nothing else. Just those two wins. Disappears for £80. Shows the proper one. Still there. Shows it again, nudge in......£25+£5. Basically fannied me around for a £40 loss and that was with nudge in heads. Should have left £3 up after that first fiver. Go to collect. Pays out most then Err 17.
Owed £12. Go and tell them. Get told someone is coming out to sort it. No one. It's the same slow girl who did the change before. Tell someone else. She tells the slow girl that I told about the problem first. Slow girl looks annoyed that I asked someone else. Wait ten minutes. Ask again. Get told someone is coming to see machine just now. Need to collect as a couple of hold fivers to come. Wait ten minutes. Go to change desk and ask what's happenning. Same excuse, but they're looking annoyed I asked again. I moan that I've spent the best part of £200, spent half an hour waiting for things (at least), don't get any free drinks and the very same bloody woman marches up with a fiver and she gets given change straight away.
What the?!? She's popping fivers in the bloomin' Tic Tac Toe(x2) £5 jackpot jobbie and she gets served with speed and a smile. I do nearly £200 in various lo-tecs and get fobbed off with shit service and being pushed to the back of the queue. I ask for the manager, again no manager appears. In the end, I say I have to go, am told if I go, money will not be kept for me. Why? because I don't like customer service here? Argument ensues. At no point did I swear, although I was speaking louder than normal as I felt this was really lousy treatment. Asked to leave. I ask for my £12 back. Now told shortstaffed. Why not told that ten years ago. Then I had to leave as I had to be back at the house in ten minutes to take girlfriend to hen night. Told them to stick the lousy £12.
Finished on an £18 loss for the day in the early evening. Sick as a pig. Sick as a pig. Fucking lo-tecs. Everything about £200 off, playing shit. Customer service shit. Such a bad, bad, bad call to go in that second Gala. Such a donkey decision. Really mad at self.
Hey if anyone wants the location for the £25 Monopolys (maximum possible repeat pot is £45) or the super dead Casino King or the amazing £1000000000 off Crazy Fruits then feel free to PM.
What a stupid, stupid, decision to play there.
Sympathy needed though please.

lol lotech's are nightmares sometimes (I'm talking good lotechs here games etc. not bar x), end up £100+ down easily, due to refill, bad luck etc.etc., something some people (cough cough) on here generally tend to "forget" to mention.
Been there done that JG as I'm sure most players have, so I can sympathise.
PS: As for arcade treatment, you only get good treatment in either nice arcades/clubs, or if they are SURE you are a local pumper (ie. saddict, to coin a phrase from someone else)

Cheers Ob, appreciated. Just a bit of reassurance. It's not the money, it's the time wasted as well. I'll get over it. It was just so brutal today though. From a spawny double flasher on a DOND (£2 in - happens every day) to a spawny Rattle and Roll out of nowhere on RtR to a Red that was Redding, took the piss but then coughed up big time for the £200 between all three.
You know when you're hot like that you can usually go on games and spawn flash this, hold on that. You even get hot on stupid stuff, start spawning £30 rolls on the £5 Tic Tac Toe(x2).
No. It was the sudden brutal switch in luck. Waste of time. Grrrr. I really hate losing. Really f'ing hate losing you know. No one likes losing, or do they? Do some people enjoy losing? Don't you get to a stage whereby losing is accepted as part of the fun? Well I hate losing. Really hate it. AAARRRRRGRGGGGHH!!
Sorry I'm moaning. Weakness in character. Must try harder. What would Sir Alan Sugar say?
"JG, all I'm getting from you is whining. Shut up. Stop whining. You lost. You're a loser. Pissing money up the wall. You're fired."
Grrr. That's just made me angry again. Super AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHH!!

Some Gala's are just full of idiots. Twice I have had the old bill called on me in a certain one near london(can't name yet, I am awaiting a response from an area manager).
We got searched and humiliated in front of other customers, the machines were audited and the manager came back cap in hand and even gave us some free credits after he realised we were legit players. Thought we were fraudsters you see, acceptable the first time round I guess, but then in the very same gala they do it again about a month later, thankfully we had finished everything and left them in a state of absolute death before they powered them all off.
I like you, don't lose my rag and am also polite but there comes a time when enough is enough.
With regards to gala noteys? They do not go off on the games/monops even if there is just one pound in the hoppers, I am sure this is a setting or dip as I have noticed a few other arcades doing this now.
Seriously, I do hope that all the GGG/Monops/RHX etc etc don't end up on this god for saken new program, they are just rank and I notice on the units that have been converted, that all the %age displays are now down to 80 and not 90/92%. 50p play £100+ for each LES and then raped, no thanks.

I can totally level with this, they treat you like criminals just for playing games legitimately, I had the manager of crawley tell me 99% of people that come to play fruits only are on the fiddle, practically accusing me there and then off something, but not knowing what it was...PMK wrote:Some Gala's are just full of idiots. At least they don't bar you from the chain, which is the case for me in both mecca and rileys snooker clubs.
