Ive had one, but in general you've as much chance of getting one as the guy on last night's tv show did.

(The independent adjudicator had forgotten to put the £250,000 prize in box 2, so when the contestant asked for it to be opened on his 7th or so box, it was opened to reveal nothing inside).

Brilliant TV, but probably a publicity stunt.

On a slightly tangential note, I spotted a new cabinet last night which looked like a normal fruit machine at first glance but was in fact a "Deal or No Deal Skill Version" machine. It had a set of large LCD numbers at the top which kept changing and weren't the normal £x prizes but looked in fact more like bingo numbers. I didn't have time to investigate further but has anyone else seen this in the wild?

Was shown at the ATE in London in January. Some went on test last I heard they , Bell Fruit had dropped it. Was a clone of Skill Bingo and didn't come up to anyway near that game. Only saw and played at exhibition, myself found it OK, but not worth looking out for IMHO.

I had the 20 quid out of dond, was down to the last question which was a spoiler, luckily hit the right one, was left with 3 and 20, offered 6, no deal, offered swap, didn't take it and had 20 in me box, lovely.

hyena has only had one £20 too.

however i have seen several punters win the jackpot!! three times on various occasions in my local wetherspoons!

i guess it is a monkeys/typewriters/shakespeare situation and it did seem to me that the worse they played, question wise, the better they did!!

Nil Satis wrote:Point A would be fair I'd say, although I'd say that I have won a lot more than that and put a lot more in, if you see what I mean, i.e. I don't play once per location and aim for a single smallish win then stop. That explains point B really - I will ALWAYS play DOND if it is available and would normally expect to get to the end game 3 or 4 times in any one "session" - I basically keep going until either I have won a decent prize (£7 to £10) and have something else to play and/or somewhere else to go or until it is clear that the game is in non-pay mode - 60000+ points and/or lots of spoilers.

I could easily therefore make the end game 10-15 times in a single night across five or six locations.

For a long time - say ItBox versions 48 to 53 - DOND was basically the only widely available game that I found to be a reliable, consistent payer and hence I have played it a lot. As I said, during all this time I have only ever won the £20 once (at a pub in Southampton) but do find that the other prizes are all regularly available.

I guess it's possible I may have missed out on one or two £20s as now I would always Deal when faced with say £3 and £20 as the last two prizes and a deal of say £7, simply because I refuse to believe that the £20 is possible, but the more general question is whether I just been very unlucky in not winning more JPs over such a large 'sample size' or is the original poster having us on? Is anyone else going to claim they have won 4 JPs recently...?
how can you deal with £3 and £20 left when you only stand to lose £4 but can gain £13
i have been in that situation nearly all times i have won the jp and it has given it to me, i have also lost in that situation but the wins are better than the losses.
is always worth taking the gamble

Everyone's experiences are different but all I can say is that after having been faced with the situation of having £20 and one other prize left maybe 50 or so times during the time when I would tend to reject the offer and having been given the £20 once in all that time, in my judgement the £20 is basically unachievable unless the game has been completely filled up by punters and so it makes sense to take the offer rather than be given the lower prize. As I said, we all base our decisions on personal experience but I'd say that when faced with a choice between a 98% chance of say £3 and a 2% chance of £20 then taking the intermediate offer is absolutely sensible.

I only do this with £x and £20 by the way; when faced with £x and £10 I will always reject the offer as I have been given enough £10s to feel this is worthwhile.

There is another issue to consider of course - does taking the Jackpot completely kill the game? You can often go back in and take a second decent prize from DOND, meaning that as long as you are confident of doing so you may soon be taking another good prize to accompany the first one.

Nothing is ever black and white; there are always shades of grey...

Just for the record I too would estimate having been on the endgame of DOND at least a few thousand times and in this period of time have taken the JP precisely NEVER!
I accept that tactics have changed over the years and as has been sensibly pointed out there's really not much point in not accepting the deal in a 2 or 20 pound scenario.Though again I recognise that the 10 pound win is always plausible.
All this from the guy who argued extensively many moons ago that the endgame didn't have to be rigged !!
