would have been nice to receive more empathy when i was complaining about a similar "illegal" type rigging on TIOLI.
I take this opportunity to reciprocate the empathy-giving!

The thing I only managed to work out what TIOLI actually stands for a couple of days ago...sad but true. :o ops:

Haven't got to check whether Scrabble has been altered as mentioned on unbummed machines.

Quite apart from the 'losers' board' now in place on Scrabble, the whole thing about incremental prizes I find odd - how can you be said to have 'won' 17p on the new DOND if the machine can't then give it to you?

Yep- a couple of times recently, my joy at finding a relatively unmolested one has been tempered by chieving very poor returns in the end games.

As for ones which have been played say 50 times or so that will have yielded the initial dividend plus potentially a lot of recycled £1s- presumaly each recycled £1 sets the % back even more eg if at 30% (lathough I know there is some speculation that it is 50%) then a unit that has paid say £30 out over its first 50 games needs another 50 games without paying a bean to get it back on track. In most places people simply arent going to play it that much IMO.

A totally reliable source tells me this game was 'fixed' because of the pattern of play on only a handful of boxes. Somebody, probably in their local, got too greedy or careless and, perhaps unwittingly, demonstrated their control over this game. Bad move -the golden goose is dead.

Money went in, far too much came out in one place.

i don't doubt that you are quite right but, on one point, i have to differ.

imo whoever killed the golden goose you mention has done society a favour. there is very little edification in scrabble. and recycling £1 for £1.40 ad infinitum strikes me as one of the most joyless pursuits, unless there was some way of manipulating the prize board.
nobody ever wins on those things.

Sorry, I never thought to ask the size of the prizes being taken. I know it's probably after the event, but I can see that this could be of some interest.
I'll ask when I see this guy again and post accordingly.

I'm pretty sure I have seen a couple of machines that have had unmolested scrabble on them since the update. Asking for less than 75 for the prize round and giving the £1 corner board (OK thats not too bad) but the time was severely limited maybe 15 seconds (although it could have been less).

On a different note and an older theme, I can confirm that getting a bingo in the endgame gave nothing but a 50 point kudos.

Played one today on 99 where pretty much the only cash amounts were on the triple word score spaces and I think were 20p each

Yes I'm Birmingham based dmac, I presume my lack of imagination when entering my name on highscore tables led to your deduction :)
