i don't doubt that a good player can make decent money out of this, if you have the inclination to make hay, why not work saturday and/or sunday too?
it certainly seems to be the hay harvest at the moment, although my GK is not up to the standard of some, the ATM has not been troubled for some time.

if there is a way to get £40 rather than £10 i don't know what it is, would be interested purely for financial reasons; there is no edification in playing shitbox scrabble but you'd be a cretin to not pick up a tenner in the street.

there are (at least) five or six people who can empty the bag on this in london alone and one who can get rid of 100+ tiles :? (see pic).

Not one for me, but while trying to get on an ItBox today I witnessed what I can only describe as a 'blur of hands' as a young player appeared to be taking Scrabble to the cleaners in front of a crowd of mates. I thought they were going to start cheering.
It made me tired just to watch, but I can see clear profit for those with the right abilities - fair play!

Splendid - where was that, properpro? Perhaps it was VB, and no doubt everyone around him was VB as well. ;-)

Easy on virgin machines.

But you can recycle a quid forever even if not.

I find myself falling consistently short of getting to the cash game (anything less than 75 tiles is achieveable for me), which has prompted me to review my game.

I have a couple of questions:

1) I find I waste most of my time dragging the tiles onto the board - especially when the screen is a bit dodgy - are there any techniques to minimise this time loss...eg. is it better to go for longer words or lots of 2 and 3 letter words?

2) Maybe I'm missing something but...what relevance does the score have? Surely the only thing that matters is using enough tiles to get to the cash game.

Try using 2 hands. This may sound facile, but will speed you up by about 10%.

I was wondering this too. Does it give you more time in the endgame?

My PB is 97 tiles. What is the requirement on a virgin machine?

I may have misunderstood you here, but you don't have to "drag" the tiles onto the board. You can just tap the tile once and then tap the square on the screen where you want the letter to go. And as QuizMaster says, two hands is the best strategy.

There's no need to get a good score or use lots of tiles really. I quite like setting up high-scoring plays for personal satisfaction, plus I'm a sucker for scoreboards, PBs and the like. I once decided to see how many I could tiles I could use in one go, regardless of the requirement for entering the cash round, and managed 120.

I assumed that dragging was required. That makes things a bit easier and should bump me up to achieving 90+ tiles regularly.
Not sure I'm going to be a master of the two handed play though - I think the hemispheres of my brain are sufficiently disparate to make it a no-no
