ISSUE 54 - WORD UP HAS GONE
In my old age, I can't even remember Sun & Moon! - how did that one work?
And was Treasure Quest the one where you had to collect six of several sets of jewels by moving horizontally and vertically around a rectangular grid, with 50p/£5 and £1/£20 variations?
Last Old Codger question for now - which was the game where you moved around the edge of a rectangle where Skulls killed you and rather than pick the single right answer you had to mentally rank the answers in order to survive, e.g. if three moves was the good move you had to pick the second highest answer?

Sun & Moon was effectively a game of Othello using Suns and Moons as the symbols.
The game you think was Treasure Quest was called Aladdin's Cave
The game with the skulls and the correctness of the answer decided how far you moved was Treasure Quest. So you were nearly right!

Ah yes, that all makes sense. Ironically I loved playing Aladdin's Cave but hated Treasure Quest.
The only issue with Aladdin's Cave, other than the fact that you could play ad infinitum without getting onto the required row/column if it didn't want to pay, was a nightmare bug on the standalone version where the game would simply crash and when it reset you had lost any bank. It was vital to remember to take the £20 if you had won it before going for the (virtually guaranteed) £5 follow-up. Happy days...

Had the odd one crash on me. You are mistaken about the 'ad infinitum' however. There was a certain strategy to the moves (it was all about the corners and edges) that enabled it to be JP'd every game. You still had to be able to answer the questions though.

I'm cross with myself - I was a humble student then, and played Aladdin's Cave quite a bit. I occasionally wondered whether there was some clever trick, but certainly never came close to discovering it! Took the occasional £20 from a genuine payer but that was it. How did you chaps navigate the "A=1, B=2, what does VULNERABLENESS equal?" spoilers which I recall proliferated on Aladdin's Cave?
