Agree with everything here, amount of times ive 'missed the bus' (chasing a red). 'left my phone at home' (playing for lines), as much as you know you shouldn't, in your head profit is profit! I hate it! Been late to meet my girlfriend, late for work, mugged off mates all for a tiny bit of profit.
Unbelievable Jeff
Like smoking if you had the chance not to start you would. Twice now soft arse me has taken the girl out for pub lunch lashed me dollar in the fruity before we even look at the menu and very luckily managed to scrape it back off the last quid or two.
ops: . No self control. Im a changed man now.
I order the food first.

I mean this as no disrespect to you Steve but I would never play if I was taking a girl out...playing machines is possibly the least sociable thing you can do as you're paying all your attention to the fruit.
I've said it before but pro playing makes relationships very difficult. Over the last 3-4 years I've managed to persuade quite a few women to come out with me and things will start well. Things will get worse though as you start getting in at stupid-o-clock, going away for days on end, have fluctuating moods etc.
Also; There's not a worse feeling in the world than when you're out with your friends on a Fri/Sat night and you see a machine that's keen. You feel you have to play for a quick rip (lines etc) which plays up. You're stuck on this machine for ages while you can see your mates drinking, chatting and having a laugh. Occasionally someone will come over and ask what you're having when it's their round and then you'll get the "We're going to the next pub" / "I'll catch you up" conversation. HOW DEPRESSING IS THIS!
I can't begin to explain how crap you feel when you miss half a good night out because you're chasing a red while all your mates are on the dance floor chatting to women! Also, your friends will undoubtably think you're a loser and eventually stop inviting you out (luckily mine haven't yet and I've stopped playing when out on the beer now).
Yes, you may take home a few more quid...but that's all you'll take home!
Anyway...just my two penneth again but I cannot stress enough the following:
Making money going to pubs and arcades and playing games may sound like a great way to make a living but it's not as there's no work/life split....DON'T DO IT!
Rant Over.

Like all addictions, people suffering from it often think they are in control.
I am a very light recreational player. However, many people on here, whether winning or losing, have a serious gambling addiction that they are in denial about.
Taking a girl out to dinner and putting £1 in a machine, let alone the whole cost of a meal is an just one example of that sickness.

I disagree really. I'm almost the opposite.
I could go out and play today (in fact there are a couple of places I could go to almost guarantee profit). I have the means to get there, the coins ready to go but I really can't be bothered to sit in front of a fruit for ages!
An addict will play even if he'll lose time and time again.
I could play to win but don't really feel like it.
I am, possibly, the anti-addict.
