Unchipped machines

Post by bowie »

What would the reason for there being a machine being unchipped now? Not really counting landlord owned ones, but why would a company leave a machine unchipped? Would they have to buy the chip or would it just be released from the machines company?

Some small distributors probably either aren't informed of criticals, can't afford to replace them, or don't care.

just had my last p5 go on wednesday, it was from a small firm that i had never heard of, i knew they were getting the hump in there and it had been turned off for about 3 days, obviously they were waiting for it too be taken out, i wish i had been there when they came too collect, i would of bunged the driver a few quid too tell me its next destination. i doubt this small firm have a chip for this or even know what the problem is, nice while it lasted :D

I'm pretty sure critical rechips(i.e p5) are issued for free, whereas non-critical (i.e dond wiyb) cost. One phone call will be all it takes to get one sent out.

I once played a 250 cops n robbers superhold worker in a bookies, it had been getting emptied for days, and it was supplied from one of the big companies.

Bookie came out and turned it off saying I know your tricking it, thing is I've called the company and they insisted it couldn't do that anymore as it had been chipped.

Also was doing a cash raker when the engineer came in with the final chip, as I was doing it, I didn't let him get on it, he eventually got bored and left, and it was never chipped. No idea why he didn't tell the bar staff to punt me off it.

Either way, sometimes engineers cant be arsed, locations are forgot, or recorded as chipped. Then of course yeah, small suppliers etc.

It all comes down to engineers really, and lets be honest there just low paid workers who probably are unhappy with the hours/work load their boss is giving them. Im sure sometimes engieers just say they've chipped a certain machine when they havent.

We had m/c go empty once, engineer came down, refilled it with cashbox contents and just sat the bar for about 45mins!

I was told a story by my manager today, we had a bfm monopoly go faulty once, the engineeer came out, had a look around then told us everything was fine, the machine was paying out triple what it should have been! Another engineer came out a few days later and removed it.

WIYB non critical

I was once playing a fantaztec which i had found only a few days earlier and still not done it.

An engineer came in with some kind of circuit board and swapped it with the one inside the machine. I thought, oh great that was good while it lasted.

I couldnt believe it when my next board didnt block the feature! Had some good times since with that.

However that same machine got moved a few months down the line, and after one hit we came back only to find it chipped
