not all of us mate.
some of us have responsibilitys like kids and a mortgage to pay.
I hate to gamble playing machines is not a gamble because i always win (over course of day, not on every machine) so why would i win £400 in a days play to put it on red it makes no sence to me!
fat fat fat i tell you

Well done to ya mate.
Since my offspring arrived (3 1/2 years ago) I've gone from playing 5 days a week, right down to once/twice a month, and I feel better for it. :D
My comment was aimed more towards the younger generation with no responsibilities who will look back in 10 years time and think 'Why did I put all my thousands of winnings into that fixed piece of sh*t?!'

ANFIELD take note. :)

Some quality, honest posts in this thread.
I'm 34 and have played for the last 20 years,i can remember aged 14 my dad giving me £50 for christmas,i went to the local arcade and promptly blew £25 in a couple of hours.Felt sick but 20 years on and i still wake up virtually every sunday(including today),with a sense of dread upon opening my wallet to see how much i have blown the previous night.

This year i decided to keep a diary of every gambling session i have,i log the total win/loss each time and at this point i am £3,500 down.
So to all you others out there who lose consistently you are by no means alone, but it will always be easier to post about huge profits than post of another embarrasing loss.
I don't begrudge the winnings these players make by any means, but sometimes i feel for the people out there who are even worse of than me reading of yet more easy winnings being made by seemingly everyone but themselves.
So keep your chin up fellow losers! :)
And to answer the original question,i would estimate an accumulative loss of approximately £60-£70k

Depends what your learning curve is like, how much you fritter away and where you live really. Everyone takes a spanking when they start out (i know i did), it's part of the game i'm afraid. I can't even fathom my win/loss figures as i have no idea at all what they would be.

I'm almost certain i'm in the black overall though, as i guesstimate i've made about £10k on fruits since i came back home last July. Can't say i think i got £10k down beforehand though as i've only been playing with big sums of money for 5 years. I'd say the last 2-3 have been profitable, but 2002-2004 probably cost me a few grand overall. Before that i was under 17 and couldn't play due to age laws and all that malarky. The mind boggles. :x

I am trying to cut too, down my own worst enemy, think I have finally faced upto to the fact I dont have the disicpline whether it be fruity's or those roulettes in the bookies. Probably done about £8000 on fruity's playing for about 3 years and about £3000 in roulettes in 3 months. Have to stop playing those pieces of garbage. Best win £1200 but that can be blown in about 20 minutes on these things

Dont think I will go cold turkey regarding gambling but just want to go back to where I was a few years ago where gambling was just a bit of fun, normally just sticking a few £ on a footie coupon, instead of something thought about everyday

Think we really are going to be a nation of gambling addicts, although I blame myself for my losses, its untrue the amount of young people in bookies now no doubt blowing there wages, student grants/overdrafts/. Was just thinking the other day I live about 5 miles from ciry centre and I would say there are still about 6 betting shops within a square mile of me.

Plenty of betting shops about. A huge, huge market for gambling.

Remember you are buying entertainment right? It's only a worry if you're spending too much cash on 'entertainment' and other priorities are neglected as a result. Also if you can't take the mood swings that come with it, that should be incentive alone to focus on occupying yourself with other things.

I really hate losing money, really hate it. If it's a bingo poker player who reraises my nuts on the flop for all my stack on a flush draw that he hits (33%) - that irritates me. Although it shouldn't as those type of players will mumbly mumbly pay you mumbly off in the long mumble.

Calm down dear, ZEN and the art of poker. Feck that, I'm a naturally irritable firritable bloopy wirritable type person. I'm trying to incorporate ZEN, just not very well. OK? Actually losts of discussion on the 2+2 forums about poker wherby you just bet against each other and share the pot % wise on post flop showdown ala % split on those FOBT poker widgets. No I didn't understand that either.

Also losing money on fruit machines. Yes every one loses. Even the bestest most disciplined super doopery doopediest super plooper. Even with an umptier. I put a £1 in a thing and the start button was broken, so I lost a £1.

I also lost £25 in a Goldrush the other day. It happens. No signs, yet I played on into darkness.

I don't touch FOBTs anymore and I can't tell anyone how to live there life, but
STOP PLAYING FOBTs!!
STOP PLAYING FOBTs!!STOP PLAYING FOBTs!!
STOP PLAYING FOBTs!!
STOP PLAYING FOBTs!!STOP PLAYING FOBTs!!
STOP PLAYING FOBTs!!

STOP PLAYING FOBTs!!

STOP PLAYING FOBTs!!

STOP IT!!

If you keep playing them and losing money the taking will be up so much there won't be any fruit machines to play. Apart from wanky B3 random dross.

Although only a part time player I guess I used to put in over £500 a year! I know this may be peanuts to a lot of players, but I guess over the years it all adds up!

I always tried never to put in more than I was prepared to lose but it never ends up like that and I would find myself with no lunch money yet again!
