i didnt think they where too bad at all.
havent played a fruit machine for months in a pub. cant see the point? put in £1 get £3. 2 quid profit... wow! takes £35-£40 and IF your lucky you'll get a jackpot x 2.
dont get me wrong. i used to love fruit machines - but now the only gmabling I do is a spot of roulette online and the lottery!
as for that backing remark lol nixxy. you should know by now that backing means absolutely fuck all. there can be £1 in the hopper and all the engineer / fruity owner has to do is press the green top up button... hey presto, the coins drop ;-) its just a ploy to dupe you in. the pot levels are what determines a win, not if the hoppers are full!

I looked at these and personally thought they were nothing like pub fruits... 
Now there's a thought - Anyone want to team up and maybe look at making some on-line fruitees that are very similar to Red? I'd be up for that!
Wouldn't know where to start when it comes to the 'Web' side of things, the gfx and design would be more my side of things.

I do think the AWP manufacturers are REAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLY missing a trick by not providing their machines online, But i'm pretty glad they don't cos I'd probably be on them all the time!
The difficulty comes with the payout percentages. Do you make them random? It's not like its ONE machine and you have to wait your turn, it would just be 1000s of the same software running on lots of PCs so how would the 'machine' know when to pay?

I'm sure there'd be a way to do it. You could have a finite number of 'machines', say 1000, which all had their own percentage control. Obviously, only a thousand people could then play at any one time, but if you did get that many players, then jeez, I'd be happy to give up my day job and setup a bigger 'collection'!!
Sincerely though, why don't we get a bit more serious about this? My idea would be:
A virtual 'arcade' or 'pub' where these 1000 machines are situated, it'd be just the same as walking into a real venue, as you can only physically play 'one' of the machines that are there. Most on-line fruits are progressive 'one-pot' machines, where in essense (sp?) all players are playing the same machine. If you know you lost £30 on machine 527, you could get back into the arcade, and 'request' to play machine number 527. If someone else is on it, you could submit a 'wait' and then be notified when the machine is vacant. The site could also keep that machine vacant for 5-10 minutes until you return, else it just free's it up again for someone else to play.
Realistic? Or, as immortal Corporal Jones would oft be told - "I think you're stepping into the realms of fantasy here, Jones!"

Set them all on 90% with their own rams so they have individual streaks etc.

As I said, I'd love to get to work on it. There'd be different ways to approach this though:
- We design the machines. I know there's a few of us on here who are 'up' on programming and general design techniques. Plusses for this method would be we wouldn't have to worry about any copyright infringements (so long as we didn't 'borrow' too heavily from any real AWPs) Although we could implement pretty much all the good points of Reds / 'Crests etc under different guises. For example, 'Number Runner' could become 'Steppa Nudge' or some such. 'Fruit Steps' could become 'Reel Drops'.
The main downside of this would be that a lot of work will have to go into it, and I for one, wouldn't know how to set up the web side of things.
- We try and get 'the big names' involved. Probably an impossible task, as they'd want to do it all themselves (if they even wanted to do it!).
If I get time tonight, I might try and look a bit further as to what's involved. Think about it, there could be a 'FruitChat' designed website that rakes in the cash for it's contributors!
