If YOU were a machine manufacturer...

...How would you design your fruits? Software wise I mean.

I thought about this, and obviously we as players would like big streaks and easiness to read, a good low(ish) feature or two would be great too.

I think friom a designer point of view though, they want to get as many people playing as possible, NOT pleasing the pros. Big streaks would probably be good, beginners would get hooked a lot easier if they have a big win early on, but youd have to make this difficult to read or even random, else pros would get the streaks all the time!

...this leads me to think I would possibly produce a bellfruit(!) I can kinda understand it from there point of view. bet they are bigger earners than reds. anybody know?

I wonder how they'd cope without all the licensing they get.

I'd just design machines in the ilk of hot stuff, vamp etc.

I think Reds take more than Bellfruits, someone posted cashbox takings a while ago and Reds dominated the top10.

I'd also try to make something like a Vamp, but with more emphasis on skill to get round the board, more trailshots and things. If I solely wanted players to not play them, I'd make the random or like Bellfruits

I think the skill element of only a few years back is sadly lacking from today machines. Virtually all luck and timing, with no skill involved. Force, hope it streaks etc.

If I am slotting on the services, I notice Joe Public go for the "Deal or No Deal" straight away.

Yes, I think from an amateurs point of view DoND will be more interesting to play. A Barcrest taking £8 for a board and killing in two spins, is not going to give anything OR offer any 'interesting play'. A shitty bellfruit in a similar state may offer a random board with a decent mid-level feature- I CAN understand why these are popular! :(
