the only pub i've seen which has it is a 'spoons and i'm not keen on the beer in most of those places. besides i won't have much time for the pub until next week but i reckon i'd be good for 1000 on boggle. is the mid-game break as pivotal (re. potential prizes) as it seemed or did i just miss a trick?
nobody ever wins on those things.
Played this for first time tonight. Highest score from 3 games was 695 - embarrassingly low compared to VB's of course, but recollections of playing the game proper suggest that knowing the set of allowable 3 letter words is the key. (maybe not on the SWP version ?). However, can't say I found it as interesting as Word Up. The fact that the 4 letter + words are 'listed' at the top of the screen makes it more of a collecting exercise, to my mind, rather than allowing any creativity. Grumble, moan etc ....
Yeah, being able to stab out the 3 letter words is useful, but bear in mind that longer words get you more points. Also, the word list isn't all that large, so lots of Scrabble 3s aren't accepted.
I agree that the game isn't as interesting as WU (nowhere near) - it's also the only quizzie game that I actually find physically demanding to play, as you have to poke the screen non-stop for a solid 2 mins, with your poking restricted to fewer points on the screen than in the other word games, making it a prime candidate to cause RSI (well, only amongst knobs like me, who spend half their waking hours playing quiz machine games).
Solo best is now 1170!

le mot just Mr Bob. i'll pretty much play any word game but this is too structured for my liking, and i'm not a fan of scrabble wordsvaginalbob wrote:the game isn't as interesting as WU (nowhere near)
i've had 850 odd on it including the highpoint of BEESWAX but i'd prefer to play WU on 2000 for £1 in a man vs machine showdown. just my 2pworth.

Yes - that's another drawback. Being a mere dilettante I can't be bothered to organise in my mind the Scrabble 3s (which I used to know at least) vs the Puzzle Word set vs the 2 (at least) WU sets. So I'm certainly not going to make the effort to list another set for this game. Still, you get out what you put in I suppose. Also, the word list isn't all that large, so lots of Scrabble 3s aren't accepted.

Re: Boggle
I've had loads over 700 but can't get above 800.vaginalbob wrote:1100 is my best so far - haven't seen a non-VB effort over 700 yet.

Only person to play it in my local spoons (Maidenhell) and the prize never fell below 900 last night. Lost a fiver.
Lost a fiver on that Buzzing Bees (?? ) thing too. Ridiculously difficult.

Yeah I played the montague Pyke probably right after you a few weeks ago and it was at 1275 for a quid. The good thing about boggle is that joe punter has probably heard of it and is more likely to risk 50p on it than they are text tiles (or word up if that's your thing).vaginalbob wrote:I do when I see it - it's a pretty samey affair tho, and once you deliver a 1000+ it shafts the game for a long while.leonardo1 wrote:anyone still playing this?![]()
I like word games but I can't get into Word Up. Only pros ever play it so all the machines are totally raped, here and in Glasgow - even the ones in Milngavie (thanks angie). I can't be bothered with the expense of learning it....
My boggle PB is 1120 at the Que Pasa in Maidenhead.
