yeah, i watched that just then, they got the investment aswel...
im sure they said it can detect if someone trys to use a refil key too, or if anyone trys to find out the systems information...
although, even if they are in the systems, it might not effect playerst oo much, all it does is help the attendants maintain/fil/make sure the machines are been used properly...
it aint gona change the payout rate to below the legal requirment... so it might not be too bad.

ahh i wanted to start this thread hehe.
yeah it was a brilliant idea..they could do some serious damage if that becomes common place..i reckon it "could" be the end of the emptier even if you take it in say 25 batches they will notice that too much is going out in a short time span :S
will have to keep an eye on it

i heard of a similar system years ago apparently in place in some american casinos, where the system logs the amount in each machine. in fact it went one stage further, and deposited the cash overnight in stocks and shares, and then cashed them out in the morning in order to maintain maximum profit.
makes you think

could be easy to hack. uses a bluetooth connection which could easily be compromised if the right person was doing it.
you could see the machines whole history if you could! even see how much the last person put in
they could even make a program that accesses it via application that could work on a mobile phone operating system.
not a geek, just that mobile phone applicatinos used to be my domain!

As far as 'information' goes, it can only detect what the machine software throws out via the dataport. The minimum info needed to satisfy the requirements of BACTA does not include alarms etc, and certainly not turns of the refill key. Cash in/out/float/VTP/doors ... that's it.
This isn't a 'new' product as they claimed. MIDAS incorporates both wired and wireless data acquisition, and there is a device available that can call a mobile and send a text message with whatever details you want - good for site testing a new machine.

for those of you that cant click a mouse and read a link i quote from their site
See the cash figures for all machines – at an instant, best, worst, league table.
Catch Machine Errors as they happen and reduce down time!
Monitor Hopper Levels in realtime!
Records Refills, Collections and all cash operations by staff. Every penny counted.
Catch all strim, spike and fraud attempts!
Low cost purchase or lease terms available!
so, they will be able to view the results of all of this, realtime on a pc screen,
if you check a refil it will know, if you take lots and lots of certain similar win amounts it will know..
you cant actually see what features we are taking, but you can see the amounts through the last bank/last win records within the machine
it runs to bacta standards... so bacta are supporting its use, and they have a stall booked at the atei2007
so we can pretty much kiss goodbye to gambling for profits in an arcade
wether legitamate or illegal,
they will know if you take 20 jps out of a machine each day,
they will also see on the screen us forceing certain machines, then others losing twice what we win..
ie, 40 £1's in without a negative hopper movement, then a dump of £100, £60 profit, 3 times a week, recorded on an excel spreadsheet and printed out with the time we go in???
not funny

For those of you that can't read a post from a machine programmer...
Their software can only use the data that is actually sent from a machine, and the data that is actually needed from a machine to fulfill the BACTA minimum requirement is a fraction of the full spec.
The minimum requirement does not include any machine alarm condition.
The 'refill' aspect only refers to refilling via the mech (which never happens). There is no message to indicate the refill key being turned.

il tell you what though...
it would be pretty handy if you were able to hack into the wifi on it... go in the arcade
Machine 1 - hopper full - no jp win today
Machine 2Hopper £15
Machine 3 - hopper Full last payout £5.
would be REALLY handy, going around the arcade, picking spcific machines to play.. knowing if their gona pay out or not

basicly they will have a print out list of what machine is doing what,
and as i reguarly go in an arcade and hammer 3 or 4 machines within a few minutes of each other im gonna get looked at as if i am doing something wrong,
some machines we've had in arcades that could be emptied are now going to be place we cant hit as the arcade attendents are going to know whos doing what..
ie, when a new empty comes around lets use money laundery as an old example, they will have a printout that says something like this: (made up times etc)
08.00 machine service door open
08.01 machine front door open
08.02 machine float/refill £1 x 240
08.05 machine turned off

they dont need and other fuckin details...
if its done right, then you leave a fiver in, next person dosent get on the board for £15 then loses even more,
everyone for the next 3 days loses...
then by the time the arcade empty/float/refill the machine it has recollected its deficit..
this new gadget they have made will let them see "real time" what is going off, and any arcade with any sense would proint out a full report of the day every day..
i think we'd be hearing "are you gonna tell me that for an initial stake of £16 you legitimately won £245 sir? you are barred" a bit more reguarly
fruit machine programmer or not, i think this is pretty f'in bad....

If these could be picked up via a mobile or pda, if hackable you could see what % the machine is running at (£in and £out), and over the long term would be better than any refil key. I'm guessing this would clock up notes and silver along the way and would spell the end of the "I bet this machine was refilled" situations

And to do that you'd have you be continuously monitoring the comms from a RAM reset onwards, because the 'running' £in/out are not figures transmitted.SteveV2 wrote:This is what I was saying to a work mate today.Dunhamzzz wrote:could be easy to hack. uses a bluetooth connection which could easily be compromised if the right person was doing it.
