How often do you come across broken buttons?

General fruit machine related chat, if it doesn't fit another category discuss it here..

I think anyone that breaks buttons deserves their fingers breaking?! It is done by thick, clueless cretins that can not think further than an hour ahead in time. It is -EV for everyone breaking buttons. what plus side is there, other than the minute it takes, laughing at their cleverness? then some one breaks in retaliation. then suppliers get pissed of and tell staff to watch out more, then people start to get barred for winning, keying, ordering a coke etc then the first person to break sees a perfect with 2 cashpots and phoning and cannot win a penny. or first person to break gets a decent clue but isn't allowed in anywhere! short sighted retards!

it is a sad side to this game that many have the attitude that it is almost as important that others don't make, as it is making money themselves?!

This is so true for some people.
Some greedy players will actually want you to lose money by burning bits that night they hope you're going to do in the morning. Even if they've got a better route to go on, they'd still rather you lost than they won.
Is doesn't matter to them if they make nothing, so long as you've lost then they're happy.
A bit like anti-Man Utd fans: "Liverpool lost 5-0 & are bankrupt! But it's alright as Man Utd lost 1-0 so we're happy!"

As for broken buttons, I've not come across any in Kent for a while but if a critical one is busted, then I'll happily put the start out. That way the supplier has to be called out to fix them, otherwise they'll stay busted for ages.

That's exactly the mentality that the button breaking king of Watford had back in the day:-

"If I'm not making money round here then no one is.", was a favourite line for him.

Often it's also a sign of a bad player who's done his bollocks and has the mentality:-

"If they've cost me money, I'm gonna cost them money!", talking about the suppliers.

That's a bit more logical, but still completely counter productive in the long run. Bad players never think about the long run though.

I always report broken buttons to staff, sometimes they don't do anything but usually they'll get it sorted. Otherwise, when a punter reports it to them soon after, the blame could be put on to you out of ignorance or convenience. It also looks suspicious to avoid telling staff when there is a problem with a button on a machine, no normal punter would walk out without complaining about it.

What really pisses me off is punters who do their bollocks and then pour their drink into the coin tray after. They should be shot.

All the way from Maidstone to Hastings.
Wasn't like that until a year or so ago.

i think it boils down to bitterness , from the undisciplined . ,,,,,,,,, jealously breeds contempt an all that

successful players with their head screwd on who work hard , would never dream of breaking buttons and can see the pointless long term outcomes .
Little discipline = BIG issue

Rarely find broken buttons, last couple were the COB buttons, the last 1 the button came right off the machine, so I took it home as a souvenir.

Never broken a button and never will! Had a hard day today in an area as the local had smashed it, good job done by him was my verdict!
I am Glendale, much better than you!

There was one LTD in an M1 service a while back where someone had taken the HI button out. Made about £80 on it.

Someone took the PLAY DOND button out of the one in Gateway service. I made £80+ on that every day for a week until they fixed it.

I suppose breaking buttons can be profitable in some ways.
