Reason's why not to play fobt!!!!
The last report I noted was that the average FOBT terminal cleared £1100 per week. Therefore average bookies made £230,000 per annum. No wonder they don't give a fig about racing punters. I got knocked back today in a Paddy Powers shop having a £500 bet at 5/2. It lost.
Roulette free since December 2011.
My wife works for a bookies in a reasonably quiet shop.
Once every three months or so they have a bloke who comes in - and plays til he loses.
Twice last week he lost 10k plus - and their weekly profit on fobts' was £22k.
This is a rarity - and normal weeks range from about 5k profit - to flat and even occasional losing weeks.
JG - like the maths in your post - but just one potential error, i thought bookies terminals were now set to one spin a minute on roulette - and all turbo / instant spins removed - this would seriously reduce maximun profit. There is a similar block on fruit machine games - if you are playing £10 mega spins - and win nothing - you have to wait a few seconds before losing your next tenner.
I would also like to point out its Friday night - definitely not the time for maths lessons!

True tho - on a quiet week they might be £50-£60 down..... more than made back by the £8k up weeks.trayhop123 wrote:mouse75 wrote:and even occasional losing weeks.
that line just about gave me the biggest laugh all year
asfuckingif :P:P
As any stats guy can tell you - Roulette at 97%, and Blackjack at 99%, if truly random will have streaks where the player wins.

Not sure where you got that info from Harry, The law actually states that each game must last at least 20 seconds for B2 games on FOBT's , so JG was correct at 3 spins a minute max.harry2 wrote:The law states maximum two spins per minute. Previously you could do the turbo bet , which took about 5 seconds.

And that would put you at about the age of around 20...
when roulette terminals were first put in bookies they werent as closely regulated..
Yes it does.... a run of 20-25 on the trot is statistically likely in the long run!silent g wrote:the reason not to play these is...
THEYRE RIGGED!
seen people doubling up on roulette on these and if you keep betting on red it will keep rolling black!
no way this happens on normal roulette!
The man who broke the bank at Monte Carlo was actually betting on sequences of repeating even chance bets, with the casinos - who had given him free reign to play (believing roulette was unbeatable) reduced to trying to put his team of players off their bets. one of the reason even chance bets are now capped is purely to ensure double up players cannot win in the long run.
is doubling up illegal ?mouse75 wrote:Yes it does.... a run of 20-25 on the trot is statistically likely in the long run!silent g wrote:the reason not to play these is...

lol if they're rigged, I must be uber lucky lol, everyone that knows me knows Im well up on em lol!!! Some units play better than other units though. I think picking the right unit is key.
Although Im not a saddict, only play very occasionly and tend to luck out MOST times, although have had a couple of £1k+ losses over the years.... certainly ended up in the red tho
Pity I had all my life savings on black at the time
Stop talking French it's annoying!
