Impressing the future in laws

Post by redlinesman »

Had my fiance's parents over from France for a few days and we were booked up at a michelin star job last night. It was a French place, not my cup of tea really, my fiance and her family are from Provence so there was only one option food wise really.

Anyway, we went for a couple of pre-drinks at a bar nearby and took a seat at one of the tall tables and settled down with our drinks. As the conversation started to flow I noticed a fruit machine in the corner, as I took a closer look I realised it was one of my hoppers, one that doesn't take a huge amount of time. Just as I had noticed this, the conservation had developed into how my future in laws would love to see how I make a living. After a little bit of chatter my fiance said 'is that one any good' I replied 'thats my mainline of work at the moment' so the scene was set.

We shuffled over to the machine and I started my work, Im very proud of this one by the way. There was an air of excitement as we supped our aperitif's and my father in law to be was engrossed. He has a successful business in France, providing medical care to luxury yahts when their owners are in need. I've always been a bit sensitive about what he'd think of my trade but the praise that came my way was very enthusiastic and complementary. I'd managed to take a 223 profit in the space of the BBC news program, so everything went well time wise. We finished our drinks and he said 'Qu'est-ce qu'un commerce, vous gagnez plus d'argent que moi' and made our way to restaurant to enjoy a cracking evening.

By the way, the saddle of milk fed lamb was exquisite.

You may want to lay off those restaurants ! They are no good with the expanding waistline

My problem is my waistline has already expanded! The 6-8 course meals washed down with a nice bottle or two have taken their toll...

I may have to lay off for a while in the future!

On a side note, it's a shame redlinesman posted this thread. If a more respected poster had started the thread, it might have got some good replies.

My in laws were naturally sceptical to begin with, but when they saw the money that can be earned, that their daughter is well kept without the need to work, and their granddaughter (my step daughter) wants for nothing, needless to say they fully approve...my mother in law has even done some fruits with my wife, who is fully trained up :-)
