The Sorcerer's Apprentice
The Sorcerer's Apprentice
I am just wondering why people are so embarrased to admit they started off knowing nothing? I know some people who have created new accounts in the past to cover up "silly" questions they have asked. I could have created a new account on here talking about how great I am at hitting cluedo skills, and all the great empties and playables I have smashed in over the years, but didn't bother. I started from scratch on this site and invested plenty of time and money to learn and have had help all along the way from others and I am proud to show that progress. I laugh at some on here who poke fun at beginners and call themselves "pros", one guy in particular has opened threads in the past about "stupid" beginners and how his pro life exhausts him, I think "do me a favour".

I was a serious addict! I loved Great Escape. Italian Job, the old Simpson's game before Homer's Meltdown... Meltdown had the new cabinet for Maygays at the time. I liked Barcrests bit hated Lotto Luck (because it seemed to be a tight bastard...didn't know about refusing reds). I loved Caesar's Palace, I worked out when features would be super by myself, everyone in the local bookies that had it was clueless... I could hit jackpot on Up Pompeii, wasn't great on Roman Reels but was steadily improving. I got proper hooked on Red Arrows and practiced Wild Thing non-stop and its because of that machine that I became a pro because it made me my first contact. He wanted me to take him to the ones I knew and he told me about numbers, showed me how to play Arcadia (I used to hate the game).. I found a £5 Arcadia in that service station in Folkestone on the M20 - I practiced Shoot 'Em Ups on that for hours one day - it was a £5 machine! Met another contact who told me about cancel on it and from there, through the 1st contact and his contact the emptier surfaced... not saying I worked it out! I was a rookie, but it seemed the players higher up in the food chain/hierarchy didn't know about cancel and were actually pretty crap at the feature. Got King Kebab off the same source, didn't make fortunes on it but as far as I remember that empty lasted a good few weeks. So many stories, I could write a book but basically I got spotted by someone who my 1st contact knew streaking Homer's Meltdowns, he thought I knew something on it because I'd go in the pub where I saw him and streak it every week (Homer's Laughing)... I was miles better than my 1st contact on Spartacash and Beer Guide, I was just pretty clueless on JPMs as I didn't know numbers. A rather thick contact who I never actually dealt with offered me a refill key and "the numbers on JPMs" for £100!
Oh, the beginnings.... how ridiculous it all was!

To talk much and arrive nowhere is the same as climbing a tree to catch a fish.
I lost thousands in my first few years of playing. I was in a pub one time with the girlfriend and I told her we would have to leave because I only had 3 quid and couldn't afford another drink for us both, so on the way out the door, I threw my last 3 quid in the fruity and won 12 quid!
We stayed for another two drinks each and that was my first experience with fruit machines!
