ICE - Totally Gaming - London 24th - 27th January
I'll be there. On a side note. Where the hell is Scott? Has he finally bit the bullet and seen the light?
Getting an early night?
That the enticing eroma and flavour of a spoons breakfast bap meal deal is too great?
That he will be able to beat Kesh/Paul/Turk/Darren/Crosby/GYKid/Nick/Bob/Tony from Oxford/Peter/Anne and the other 328 players in the area? To the electro for doors.
Who knows?
Back to the topic. Im attending under "Slowboat Leisure"

Not kidding guys. Not saying what, because it is sensitive infomation and others could get into trouble. I will divulge when it is safe to do so. Put it this way, I would quite happily pay 50% tax instead of this.
It is at a very early stage and I can't really say how it is going to go or when it will hit us, but the very essence of what we do will be halted. We may be already experiencing it now in a small way without us actually reallising. I will keep you updated and let you know of any developments but it is a nightmare scenario. Don't get me wrong, whatever you have at the momment is safe, apart from the standard updates. There's a couple of decent things going on at the momment, at least what I know anyway but they'll 90% chance of other things going on as well and all these should be safe. Then the problems arise. Believe me, I hope what I've heard falls flat on it's face.

If it's anything like the last time you piped-up with your 'we're all doomed' opinion, everything should be fine and dandy by next Tuesday at the latest!redlinesman wrote:Looks like that was a bit premature. Your only as good as your last weeks wage in this game. This new piece of news is horrible.

The only thing I can think of is capital coin are about to take over the world.
Therefore latest programs rule asunder, and all machines will be henceforth be floated with £0, meaning that anyone with the sheer audacity of winning on a fruit machine must combine their daily occupation with one of a debt collector!

Roulette free since December 2011.
Before the election the Conservatives were saying they were going to help out the pub industry. So I would have thought increased restrictions on gaming machines would be unlikely. More likely to go the other way. Maybe networked casino type bandits and FOBTs in pubs with a £500 jp. Something like that would greatly boost pubs income without costing the government anything unlike something like a tax break which would.

Betting shops don't want your business if you can beat them at horse racing but they are not bothered about people winning on these because they know they are unbeatable in the long run and people eventually do their nuts on them. Maybe landlords would get a similar mindset if they had machines that were generating a huge income for them which they certainly do in betting shops.sir ratholer wrote:Good luck to anyone winning £500 out of most pubs, random or not.

yeah , i think the heat would dramatically drop actually
because the 500 drop would be a welcome event in the landlords eyes, talked about by the locals , and generate interest etc ,,,,,, lets face it , ,,,,,,, being a random (or compensated random ,,,,,,,,, dont start lol) ,,,,,,, the landlords would get to know and realise that the 500 wont drop very often etc , and the cashbox returns will be huge, (for the first few months at least ,,,,, with the novelty aspect included )
the fire would only start , if one of us had a trick ,,,,,,,,,,,, and was stupid enough to do the same pub twice ,,,,,,,, etc
ps , of course your still gonna get the odd landlord twat ,,,,,,,,, that accuses you of '' being an out of town scammer''
but only when a trick comes out ,,,,,,,,,, because the sight of regular pro players will be a thing of the past ,,,,,,,,, unless the landlord is on a day out of course ,,,,,,,,, and wants fries with his big-mac :P

I have a couple of contacts in the supplier side of the game, and to be fair to Redlinesman, I have also been assured that what we've got accustomed to in the pub sector WILL be drastically transformed.
Not strictly random though, but enough to make me consider hanging up my right thumb and reaching for my slippers.
Maybe an enforced retirement is the only way many of us will actually quit the game.
But in hindsight, it is really our own faults that it ends (if it does), as almost every one of us is responsible for bringing at least one other person in the game, or making a player into a force to be reckoned with, something we sure as hell regret.
I know I have. And yes I bloody well regret it.
Some longer-termed players, but - sorry to accuse - mainly newer players don't approach the business with the etiquette that is needed to keep a low profile and stay under the radar.
We have seen the player base multiply many times over the last ten years, everytime a new clue comes out that requires non-skill. A trick invariably lasts a matter of days now, rather than weeks or months a few years back. I'd rather just work out a rip, so earning myself a steady wage instead of the quick buck over such a short period of time, as seems to be the case now.
The customers complain to the pubs, the pubs complain to the suppliers, and the suppliers moan at the manufactures. So we end up at where we are now.
If it ends sooner rather than later, I'll travel the world for a year or two, then when I get back I'll look at some sort of business.
And it WON'T be anything to do with fruit machines!
