p3 = a new update/chip/ program 3 because theres still bugs in the program or its "paying out too much"

p1 = program 1

and so on.

I vaguely understood chips as being updates to a fruit's software. A bit like updates for Windows, stamping out the bugs. I didn't realise that the term was interchangeable with program. So thanks a lot Lugsy and Silent. You can tell there's a newbie on the block here :-)
