JG: "G'day, and welcome to That's Amazing, with me...

...Carl Hooper!"
"Well look Carl, it's a pen that never runs out - my name, is David Monroe, my name, is David Monroe!
"Get of my show, mate!"
Wow, you guys have had some bad luck with these - I can't think of a time I've found it cost more than £8/£10 for board embarkation? Was this on £1 or 50p?

well folks ,,,,,,,, the rumours are true ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, played my first chip yesterday ( gamestech)
i (and im sure many others ) have literally earnt thousands off these , and now their fucked .
this is a huge loss , you could do the same units everyday in spoons for example , always good for an average 20quid each a day .
of course like many others , i always recycled every unit once or twice , to make 40-60's on em when ready .
but some idiots just had to recycle em 4or5 times over for a poxy extra 5-8 quid ,,,,,,, and leave em 40+ off boarding .............. and this has led to the chip ,,,,,,,, well done everybody .
these were the meat n veg of machines ,,,,,,,,,,,,you just couldn't lose ,,,,,,,,,
(not that you ever would lol) but if you were to play nothing else but these all day , no matter how much bad luck you could imagine , you couldn't have a losing day,
how many other machines could you say that about?
for reliability and guaranteed everyday profits , they were the cluedo/panther of this generation .
ok the chip may or may not be critical ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but its only a matter of weeks before blanket coverage .
reminds me of wombats . from the companies point of view ,,,,,,,,,, of course they have to chip em ,,,,,,,,,, '' we cant have average punters alienated by putting in 40+ for a board''
but its true what they say ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, we do destroy what we love the most.
short sighted extra few quid fuckwits.

And to add to what Tray said, yes, they 'have' to chip it because of the subsequent board costs, but it's the 'way' that they've chipped it that could've been done better.
Instead of removing all skill element, why not make the offering of the feature that bit rarer / only when it's almost pot-ready, etc? That keeps us happy as we can nip a few quid or more from a ready unit and then the punters will be happy with the relatively lower board costs. They need to realise that the more professional players contribute to their income just as much (if not more) than Joe 'quick half' Bloggs. Will any serious player bother with these once the chip is widespread? I'd pretty much doubt it...

like you say matt m8 , unless an easy chip tell emerges ?
otherwise , once ive hit 3-5 chipped units , im off em permanently .
defo not giving em their money back :P
lets say you put in an average of 30-40 for feature , to find out its chipped and fobs you off with 10/20 quid , then you have to just take the loss n walk , ,,,,,,,,,,, otherwise push on for the natural (bearing in mind you've just de-juiced it by 10/20 ) and end up losing a similar amount anyhow ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, fucked either way.
