Right, ok, word of warning, DONT BUY A KIA!!! Was absolutely rubbish, at the moment, its sat in a garage needing a new gearbox, and I'm not sure it's worth bothering to fix it, being that it will be big bucks, and it has a big dent in it (yes my doing, joining the a3 whilst talking/eating and van was in the blind spot!) so won't get much resale value.

Not only this, but whilst I've had it, the brake caliper was fucked, it makes constant wierd noises whilst driving, if you go over 90mph there is a constant whilstling noise.... I could go on for ages...

In the meantime have gone for a 05 vectra 2.2i (30K miles) for 3 grand, which bearing in mind I need an automatic and they aint easy to come by seems a decent enough deal..... Hopefully will fare better with this than the Kia.....

You've been warned!!!

Oh dear, why would you even consider a kia!

I'm still in the young person higher insurance bracket for one more year. Once i hit 25 next July i'll think about moving up in the car world with age and more no claims to throw at the insurance peeps. 8)

Prepare for a severe fuel bill then...my girlfriend had a 1.8 and it was ridiculous! I'm just getting a new car too, going diesel all the way now!

My mate has a Vectra VXR which is a 2.8 turbo v6
He hardly drives anywhere as it costs so much in fuel lol

I always tell him about it, no point if you cant afford to run it, he never listens

verctra's aint the most solid either :(

You'd be better getting an old bmw thats got a service history, they can run forever if been well looked after.

My advice would be to steer clear of Vauxhalls - especially the Vectra.

I've had two Cavaliers (1.8i & a 2.5 V6), one Astra 1.4 (totally crap) & two Vectras (2.5 V6 & a 1.8 revised edition)

The V6 Cavalier was just fantastic & very underrated, but the Vectra 1.8 was a nightmare from the start. Two clutches, two gearboxes, numerous shock replacements & a knackered pot.

It was also extremely inefficient fuel wise, and flimsily built.

I've got a Passat now and it's been quite good apart from a new gearbox, clutch, suspension arm(s), brake pipes . . . .

Autos are rubbish, all they do is rev their tits of and waste fuel, while shifting in a clunky fashion and are crap IMO, manual is the way to go. 8)
