West of plymouth!

Post by peter1230 »

Hi everyone, long time reader of the forums but sadly not a regular poster as don't play much these days (oldschooler from the 80's,90's)

Thought i'd post a 'smallish' post of my weeks play in cornwall last week.

Stayed at hendra caravan park just outside newquay where you will find mostly £5 machines, a couple of red's which were really buzzing made £25 profit every 2 days on them, one was crazy cobra the other one i can't remember (upstairs next to the bowling alley)
Mostly barcrests pretty much flat, little profit did make a bit on the lo-tecs sadly the 4 player monopoly plasma was set to autonudge on the whistles but did manage to get 5 whistles in the space of £3 credits for £40 after 20 in, (strangely whistled after holding all 3 reels when 4 nudges away??) did this 3 times!

Newquay itself was pretty quiet, didn't do the pubs as wanted not to spend too much and find myself £200 into a machine with little time to recover so stuck to the arcades and picked a few fav machines.

The 5p psycho cash beast in the arcade near the 'bottom' of the town was good for 4 or 5 boards off just £3 in for £15 profit and the party games arena also obliged on all 4 players for a total profit of £40 after various amounts in each position, 3 of the 4 went in after the first win which was nice.

Don't think i found one red machine on £25 or £35 in any of the arcades in the town at all a few more £5 j/p's which were good for £10 profit on each one.

Only got stuck into one £70j/p machine in an arcade at the 'top' end of town the one next to the fish and chip shop and burger king it was a deal or no deal don't ask which one, needless to say probably played it badly it gave me a cob for £40 first board needless i carried on thinking m/s could be there but just kept giving same in same out blocking phones etc was left with m/s and 20p with a £40 offer no dealt and yeah 20p there thanksssss.

Anyways pushing on Penzance arcade (my old haunt) now totally different was empty, no tourists only one other person in there no regulars anywheres!! pretty usual drivel of £5 j/p's did make a bit in the over 18's section thanks to a £35 from a 6 nudge on the lo-tec bar x after just £2 in and a bit from the red hot roll £40 after just a £10 in.

St ives arcade next stop nice to see the old shooting range still there and working!! a nice mix of £5 and a PCB on 10p play which duly obliged for £20 profit, in the over 18's was a £70 PCB2 being pumped by a 'local' and his mate watching not wanting to be sharked i moved on despite an alien also being there looking tempting, a few 'locals' in there watching every move etc but lots of tourists.

Truro arcade (traditionally my best place for profit) the one in the middle above burger king had a nice selection of machines lo-tecs high tecs and £500's, didn't have much time left in the day so only stayed for a couple of hours but ended up £30 really felt like a good profit could have been there but didn't have the time.

Not a bad weekend, the profits just about paid for the pitch fees and petrol, a great few days for me and the dogs, any players on there hols i would expect a goodish profit from you guys in the know, sorry for any 'locals' on here who 'own' cornwall, fond memories from me of the area in my youth would be interested to hear anyone elses holiday punts from down west any horror stories/locations/emptyable machines hehe i know no responses there on the pm.

Have a read make a comment good or bad or stupid i don't mind just 'sigh' whishing to turn back the clock when you could make a weeks wages in just a day in any arcade in the summer down here if you knew what you were doing.

Signing off now from the hooch aka pete

Interesting ...
This machine may at times offer a choice where the player has every chance of bankruptcy

Never been west of Plymouth myself. You should try east of Lowestoft!
