Error codes on my Maygay Italian Job Machine

I have a Maygay Italian job fruit machine that I have been running problm free for ages it has now started sounding the alarm when I turn it on. It starts off by displaying the code "NEW OPTS ALM 4.5" and then that stops and it changes to "MECH NOTE ERR 1.6" I have no note acceptor on this machine!!! Also sometimes it gives a fault code of 4.8 but i can't remember what that one said. Any help would be greatfully received. Cheers James

Which Italian Job is it?
Could be the battery needs replacing - sounds like the machine is forgetting settings, and that it has no note acceptor fitted.
Could be that the dip switch for having a note acceptor fitted is in the wrong position though.

48 will just be on/off tamper alarm - nothing to worry about, just caused by turning it on and off too much.

Whichever tech it is, you need to check the battery carefully for leakage - ASAP!

Sounds to me like someones flicked one of the DIL switches, causing it to give the NEW OPTIONS alarm, but as theres no note acceptor and an error comes up, the machine will not clear the NEW OPTIONS alarm out of the RAM until the new options installed has inizialized completely - but its not there to initialize. Simple, as im guessing its the old crappy epoch board so you need to look for the 2 sets of 8 switched, ok on bank 1-8, you need to make sure switch 5 is OFF, put this to off and reboot machine. Did this work?
