Do you simply mean the fact that it will only pay out in whole pounds, meaning that you then have to play any remaining credit, or something more sinister? I've never had a problem with Opens underpaying, which is more than can be said for the other cabinets!

Something FAR more sinister. One wins £8, say, and the machine says that there is £6 'available credit'. So it pays out the £6 and you have to play through the £2 that it acknowledges you have but somehow can't release.

Hmm maybe it's referring to whatever is left in the hopper.

Tho' the Opens have done this to me before.

'£8, say, and the machine says that there is £6 'available credit'

It happens when you stuff in loads of money to use as credits- the credits unlike some other machines are never transferred over to the bank.

This sounds far less plausible than the conspiracy theory that has been brewing in my mind for the past 24 hours. :o ops:

Cheers, cool. :D

This is indeed far more sinister. I witnessed it first hand last night on one of the new Open Blacks. I won £22 on a variety of games and had therefore long spent my initial couple of credits (so that wasn't the issue). On trying to collect the £22 the machine paid out £14 of the bank but moved the other £8 into credits.

What seemed to happen, based on the churning noise that came out of the machine when I tried to collect, was that there was only £14 in the hopper and rather than erroring the machine is now designed to move the unpaid amount into credits - hoping no doubt that whoever has been able to win a reasonable amount will suddenly lose the ability to do that and hence will lose the new credits without any further wins.

The other possibility of course is that the machine is designed not to pay out everything you have legitimately won.

Last night I was hoping to move on to somewhere else but decided to play the enforced credits. I had actually built up another reasonable sum only for the machine to then freeze in the middle of a game of Super Gold Run Blockbusters! As it was one of those places where the plug is hidden away, I made my excuses and left.

The Open is a good idea but as we all know it is completely let down by that ludicrous menu system (which hasn't really been improved on the Open Blacks) and it would be a shame if this new error makes them even less playable - the Blockbuster freeze being something that can happen on many of the games on all cabinets at one time or another.

I've not seen the credits bug yet but it doesn't sound very good at all - let's hope it's a misguided effort to tackle non-pays rather than a deliberate policy to force winning players to play again. If the latter (which, to be honest, I doubt), I'd suggest it's probably illegal and at the very least highly unethical.

If you end up in that situation again, slip £1 back in, then when you next get a win, if your theory is indeed correct it should payout £1 and transfer the rest into credits.

To be honest, part of the reason why I played on was to confirm my initial suspicions - I had built up another £16 or so in wins when the freeze occurred and I was wondering whether it would do the same and transfer some or all of the £16 into credits when I tried to collect.

I don't know of more than two or three Open Blacks at the moment but next time I see one I'll certainly watch out for this problem.

Were all your winnings made up of full pounds? I think that the Open is only designed to pay out full pound wins, but will add the rest to the bank. I make this assumption based on the following:

I had x.90 in the bank with x.00 available to collect. I then played a game where I was offered a 70p prize. Ah, I thought, I'll collect this so I'll make up another pound to collect. Wrong, the bank then became y.10 but still with only x.00 available to collect (where y=x+1).

Therefore if, for example, you were to win 2.80, 1.80 and 2.60, using my theory you would have 7.20 in the bank, but only 5.00 available to collect.

Just a theory. However, I doubt you would have won quite so much in partial pounds, so probably not what happened to you.

the transferring over of credits is not new- first evident on what I call a MP a Maygay Prototype (my name for it) , blue bodied machine with large square screen coincidentally made by Fat Spanner.I had £20 in bank wouldnt come out so flicked the switch and the whole lot was transferred into credits.
First open black I played payed out nothing, credits simply disappeared.Warned a friend who then promptly did the same thing.Management said they knew about it and so did the engineer but wouldnt refund winnings.E-mailed Fat Spanner who never came back, however once the machine is in the hands of a incompetent distributor as stated before they cant enforce software updates.

Hi

Looking forward to the next software update for my OPEN which should be with me in the next month or so......hopefully the Star Wars game will be on there.

Here's a new top 10 - not done one for ages and its all change since the last one............

1. Pubquiz 13%
2. DOND Big Reds 7%
3. Head Up Poker 7%
4. Family Guy 6%
5. Golden Boot 2 5%
6. Fantasy Football (this game so needs an 09 update asap!)
7. Rocket Money (surprisingly this has disappeared off the main menu screen and I can't find it in similar games whatever I choose)
8. Hex Maniac
9. True Skill Bingo
10 Prize Pyramids

So there ya go - 3 of the newly installed games last time appear in the top 10.

Any thoughts or observations................

I'm not sure it'll get one Dave - it's in out-of-date format on all cabinets and sliding gradually to the back of e.g. the ItBox screen (I think it has gone from some GamesNets). Suspect they'll let it disappear rather than commit funds to updating it.

Thats a shame as it gets played a lot still in the pub - but the 07-08 front screen on it looks out of date - aint it funny how little things like this can really grind your axe!

It makes the whole machine look like its not being updated.
