As far as i know, it has been taxable in the USA for years. Incidentally - if any of you are good at poker, and go to Vegas - if you are not careful, your poker winnings will be taxed.LordOoze wrote:Well just cross checked with the chappy who informed me and it's USA only lol.

Casinos & Hotels will provide you with an excemption form to fill out so you don't have to pay tax. I think you can also get them here before you travel.
you're right though, if you don't fill out the form you'll get taxed at the cage.
I take it this is for a minimum substantial win then?? say $2,000 dollars or above??
I don't recall paying tax on me $100 cash in on roulette when I was in Vegas.
Yeah I know, go me!! the last of the big gamblers!!

Yeah this is true re: poker in the USA, know many online pros over there and they all pay tax.
As for UK based players going over, pete is right about filling in the exemption form but in my experience this doesn't need to be done if you stick to cash games only, if you have a big cash in tourneys then you will probably need to get it sorted though. Having to pay tax on top of the huge rake they make on the tourneys over there = hugely -EV!!!
