At the end of the day its the way we make a living. If I ran a shop I wouldn't show customers generosity by selling them goods for a fraction of the price, because i'd be cutting my throat so to speak. A friend of mine used to drive buses, but still try to burn my locations without expecting to incur my wrath. I asked him whether he'd be amused if he went into work and was told that i'd taken his bus out, and that he wasn't needed today and could go home and lose a days wages. He said no, he'd be pissed off, but would then go out and hit my machines....
Cheeky fooker...he saw where I was coming from though.
At the end of the day.... its night!
No...at the end of the day there is no room for sentiment in this profession, and everytime you hit a machine sweet there is a chance that the person who livened it up for you is still in the pub, but too meek to say anything, so half the time you don't have to wrestle with this guilt.
Fuck them. But in a respectful way, after all we rely on such peoples awp addiction for our wages....

If you left her to play it, she would be up a bit / down even more - we have no way to ascertain the future.
Since you jumped in, you forced the outcome, and she was down. Whether this would be a worse result for her if you had stayed seated cannot be determined.
Since the machine was unreserved, there is no moral obligation to feel guilty just because you knew she was playing it beforehand. She ought to have made her intentions clear that she was to remain on the machine. Someone could have just as easily walked into the bar and played it whilst she was on her sojourn in the ladies.
So in reality, all you have deprived the lady of was a flip of a weighted coin. A fair trade considering the extra time you probably saved her punting away, IMO. You may even have saved her cash.
Her feelings about your possibly philanthropic action are of course, immaterial
But at least it gave her something to cogitate over for the rest of the day, and possibly remove the collected plaque from her pre-frontal cortex.

"If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?"
You know it was wrong but profited so all is good (you'd flip in reverse situation if somebody nicked your machine).
Dangerous doing that to preferred munter customers as they are the type who'll get staff to ban you (she was obviously a favourite of the staff, she'd be my favourite too filling machines up like that

No sense in it, they keep fixing it, but no you keep having to break it, again and again, and for what... you're not even going to make on it yourself
