I pride myself on never having seen an episode of BB, it just does'nt appeal to me, fair play to her though for getting the kids sorted, gotta admire her bravery.

back to the original post and I've finally been clued up on this. My wife explained that the episode was focused around one black immigrants experiences from his arrival on the Empire windrush, the Notting Hill race riots, his difficulty fitting in to a white British society that saw black people as former colonial slaves instead of the much needed rejuvinating influece on the economy and society as a whole they actually were.

seems to me the "blackenders" episode the overtly racist OP mentioned was actually a pretty worth while focus on this aspect of London's and the UK's history.

It was undoubtedly all very worthy, but it just smacked to me of trying too hard to be!

I really hate it when soaps try to do a "right on", groovy, politically correct, aren't we brilliant, publicity exercise.

By now we all know by know just how difficult life was for early black immigrants, and I just don't see the need for such patronising "education".

Lets learn a bit more about our own culture and history too; apparently many "British" kids now think that Churchill is just a talking dog on the telly! :(
