Resistor between MPU5 and Sec LCD meter by coinslot.

Having a bit of trouble with the LCD Meter or around that area.
My MPU5 machine is throwing up LCD METER COMMS FAIL alarm message. If you unplug the LCD meter the machine works as normal until you put money in. With the meter plugged in you get nothing but the alarm!
Does anyone know for sure the rating of the resistor found on the red wire (from the MPU5 to the Sec unit). I checked this whole group of wires for continuity. All good but nothing from the red one! So I went to Maplins and bought another and soldered it on. The one I bought was a 1000 Ohm +/- 5%. But with the resistor I removed it wasn't clear whcih side to read the coloured bars from as it seemed symmetrical. So reading it the other way it could be 120 Ohms +/- 5%.
With my new resistor (1000 ohm) in the problem remains.
Funny problem really as the Sec does come on just seems to not comunicate with the MPU5! Annoying problem though as it render sthe machine useless!
