Disgraceful programming from Scientific Games

Post by JG »

This is a gripe in general, but it has been sparked by a specific incident.

So firstly, On 25p £100 jackpot Elvis Jukebox (T777), how much for the first pick? £110 for £1.50 back. (Unless your OB)

Secondly, I will be contacting the programmer and asking for an explanation. It's a compensated game. How on earth is that sort of gameplay let through to a final product? AS a result of that utterly disgraceful gameplay, I certainly will NEVER EVER play that game ever again and I would urge others to boycott it as well. I mean all it has to do ffs it offer jacks for multiples of 10p....is that too much to ask? Obviously yes! It could afford to give picks every fiver and still be high variance! Oh no, that's too much to ask.

Thirdly. Why is it acceptable to release games way behind %? The 92% £70 Martians had a very obvious sign when they had value. It took many thousands cycled to get them into this state. The game is advertised at 92% but for the first few thousand played through it's more like 70%, eventually it does plateau out and FROM THAT POINT (important to note this, basically a 22%ish EXTRA house edge has been fraudulently taken off the customer for the first few cycled Ks) starts to actually pay the 92% advertised. How is this even legal? I'll tell you how, we have such lax testing measures for these games. Software designers can get away with murder.

Fourthly. Pure Pots/Gold etc When they were first released, they were great. You talk to any players who play beyond hi techs. They were value and that's a fact. Then of course they got tweaked and tweaked and tweaked. Now you have Pure Gold. Which if it's on any sort of pots at all, miraculously takes £500-£2000 to pay the pot you're after. Shocking disgraceful games. Are they random? Bullshit.

Fifthly. £500 Martians v1.8 Why ON EARTH would you lower the reset pot value to £100 silver on £2 a go? Then lower the minimum beam me up to *2 stake from *5 stake? THEN lower the pay table values on £2? So it'll play much better right? NO. Unlike the 1.7s and earlier it never banks, all I will say is you may, just may see asteroid bonus slightly more often and then it adores values over pots. What a con for the operators who have bought this to see it sitting, after six months on £100.16 and £50.16 as NO ONE is tempted to play it. What dingbat thought that those changes were a good idea. I mean we all know you like to release a game and a first it's fair across the estate then gradually it gets patched and tweaked until it's impossible to win on.

Sixthly. What's with the high variance shite in general? Yes this is partly about Pure Gold, but Dracula? Another game with an obvious honeymoon period across the estate. Easy to get features to on the first couple of days then BAM! Feature = about as easy to get as pots on Pure Pots. There's a new Rocky game. Italian Stallion. Basically it's like Oz freespins but Wilds step down ala Wild Knights and there's a Wicked Witch, sorry, bell on reel 3. Round one being get one bell for out up to round three being three bells for out. There are also pots on reels 1,3 and 5. It's shite. You also get knockout bonus which will punch out a win for money back or stake*2. See those four jackpots minus the one....BOOF! BOOF! How exciting four tens for money back. COOOOOOL!!!!! WAY COOOOOLL BRO!!!!!! Sarcasm intended. Or promoter bonus. What is more exciting than getting three jacks for 50p.....? Why with a times two multiplier you now win a quid. UBER COOOOOL!!!! BLOWING MY MIND WITH THESE CRAZY BONII!!! My point is with these high variance games it's ROCK HARD to actually get ahead, but so easy to lose lose lose lose all the time. YES! I'm aware some % is lost to the pointless shitty wins which you have to cycle thereby increasing overall house edge BUT regardless, I'm calling this one. These games are crook.

SO there you have it. A company that once had a few decent games are now utter shithouses. I can't think of a single game I'd actually want to get involved in. Ah wait! Mushrooms......ahhhhh no......oh look someone has left high pots....obviously hasn't done gold and streak has it?

That's me done with any of their products. The business model is now to fleece anyone daft enough to play 'em. It's the same as most of the ultra spin games in bookies.

So if anyone has any useful input, such as the mobile number of whoever programmed Elvis or even an email address, feel free to let me know. Otherwise let the smug, odious, sarcastic, pious, superiority complex enriched comments begin!

That's genuinely not an easy question in that I can't be certain, but if you count Top Trumps, POG, and Martians, Rainbows and Mushrooms back in the day then yes, most likely profit but I've certainly had my fair share of stitch ups as well.

Where is ROTW? He is very quiet atm.

Why has AMK edited the post with reason "ob"!

Pure pots and gold are pretty wank really and besides which never really on pots anymore. I dont agree with the honeymoon period argument though!

The non pot 100 games are all rubbish yes just granny fayre

Fuck knows why they did that 1.8 version on mmm 500. Certainly won't have increased the cash box takings. That was a shoddy idea it really was.

George pure pots/gold are random so there is no value/stone dead from reset argument.

Whether it be bookies or bingos sometimes pits come out cheap other times they don't.

As for the other bits well we can discuss that via pm.

My post was edited by AMK as he felt I was a bit too illuminating about something or other on a public forum. I think he just used your name OB for some sort of random comedy value. I'll drop you a PM soon Paul as I've said all I want to say on here.

Every Nobles I walk into these days seems to have a minimum of 7 £100 777s since Astra took over...tells you a lot about how much they must be raking it in. I'll let Elvis off to be honest as I've not had a horror story on it yet...but WTF at that new Monopoly game...DING DING DING aha!

1 Wild Pick

So I can pick the left reel for...no win
The middle reel for...no win
The right reel for...no win

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!

Another Nobles I walked into recently have upgraded most of their £500 machines to ticket rather than cash payout so you can conveniently stick your ticket in another machine! They have so many bookie and casino games on the terminals now you may as well be in the bookies or casino to begin with!

Good post, JG.

Definitely agree that some new games in bookies have a 'honeymoon period' where they play great (to entice the player in) and then turn to shit (once the player is hooked). Basic psychology applied to gambling.

Exceptions are wonders like Thai Princess and Viking Fortunes, those lovely games which charge a tenner for one array, so you can soon be in for £40 a set. Funny how the winning arrays are ones you haven't selected. Again, basic psychology to suck the player in.

Years ago it was about subtly gaining house advantage, now it's just about raping the players as quickly as possible. Heard of £3,000 in Fortune Spins in a Thai Princess recently for a great return of £118. Lol. Sod that for a game of soldiers!

Can't disagree with original post. Once the games have they honeymoon period forget the 92% make it more the 50% mark would be nearer. Once a player gets burned with either £1500 in a Rainbow Riches without a pot and biggest reel win of only £20 or 16 spins on roulette backing red when it hits black which you think is a once in a blue moon happens again next day on different terminal. Or going 20 hands in blackjack with 19 losses and 1 push. In the long run you get that sweet spot of few wins followed by weeks of pain with loss after loss or a 300 in with 310 coming out thanks to a hail mary bet.

Just because a game has dead periods doesn't necessarily indicate that they are lower percentage or somehow corrupt - especially on compensated games. You should know from any game where there are methods where certain players can obtain an edge, how this affects the gameplay after.

so what your saying is there must be a good method on some of these machine which is a fair point because I am privileged to some of that information. ill just to stick to the games I do play then or at least that's the theory but we all slip up now and again and when we doing its suprising how poor the other games are these days lol
