Right. That was the transcript between two players on William Hill poker. Gob_bluth as you may have picked out has a good ROI on £50 heads ups games and plays poker on Hills for a living. I steer clear of him if I can help it.
Waleed001 is a new name to me, but on Sharkscope he has poor stats, a return of -9%, not just over heads up poker.
The other night I had made a few quid and decided to play him at heads up, £50, the maximum I play for. I played him four times and lost four times, a total loss of £200+rake.
Each and every time was baffling and to cut to the quick I would suggest he had access to the cards that would fall before he made his plays. Sure spunk some chips to your opponent, but know the cards and you're in the winner's seat.
I didn't bother with it at the time, but watching him play against another winning player, in fact a better winning player than myself was interesting. I thought perhaps our playing styles 'clashed' and despite him being a losing player, in our niche of heads up Texas he, don't know why I'm writing this, err, he 'owned' to coin a stupid Americanism, yeah he 'owned me'.

This is better than Eastenders, they're on the table again and the winning player is losing.

Sure this Gob_bluth sounds a bit crazy at times as well. I mean if the call was genuinely made then it's anybody's game and if he has bad luck, he has no right to expect any money back. However put an insinuation in that Waleed is more than just a dopey fish and well, heh, what do you think? More tin foil than an ASDA value 5m length 'Baco' generic foil box? Or something strange in the neighbourhood?
I'm looking for a little more than having someone scream "VARIANCE!" at the top of their lungs.

heads up play is any two cards in any situation.
most of the pots seem to be won preflop, passing the blinds back and forth.
that says to me that both players are playing out of their financial comfort zone.
with "proper" poker players, heads up games are very cut and thrust.
bluffs, re-bluffs, traps and re-traps.

waleed shouldn't even get into a conversation with gob_bluth. just type "whatever" so the fish doesn't convince himself he's up against one of these mysterious 'bots' (I'm not convinced a computer that can play HU poker against a human being exists, let alone that can be operated without the regulatory bodies noticing it in the code) and then let the fish tilt all his money off, while complaining that he's being persecuted.

To use the well worn phrase, If you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen.

i sometimes play the 10 dollar ones, and sometimes ill play like a complete cunt.

maybe this guy can afford to lose the money, thats what makes things so scary for the other player.

Granted, what he is saying is rather silly at times. However he is over £11,000 up on the Cryptologic network so surely that must be worthy of respect and elevate him way above the level of a fish? PokerPete he is on William Hill playing heads up stts most nights if you fancy doing battle with him. He nearly always plays £50 NLHE heads up stts.

I can't comment on Waleed, he's a relative newbie to the network. He does seem quite happy to commit large portions of his stack post flop to the pot though when he's got a backdoor straight draw that's hitting. As for Gob_bluth, well he has played 4,332 games, av stake £43, ROI 6%, + £11,699 - CryptoLogic, which would suggest that he's no stranger to £50 games.

I believe the University of Alberta have developed a heads up NLHE bot that can play reasonable poker against a human opponent. Also plenty of LHE heads up bots by my understanding.

did you watch that?

I've never played Ivey, but I've played with Paul a few times and many players of his Standard in the UK. He's one of the mot successful and skilled online poker players of all time. He's considerably more profitable that the £11k shakrscope attributes to this guy (by the way, don't believe everything sharkscope tells you). Gob_bluth is obviouslyly young and a bit thick judging by the way he talks. I would humbly submit that he's wealthy, perhaps on a healthy allowance from a very rich parent and has achieved these results by preying on scared money. Anyone believing they are due a refund when getting outdrawn is clealy a class A mug.

Not to add fuel to your fire but I believe Paul claims some networks have some statistical swing in their deals, some sites dealing more flushes than they should, others more sets. I never hear him say it myself, but I heard that attributed to him. He has MILLIONS of hands stored. Personally I'd say you'd expect to see some variation in deal results. That proves randomness, rather than disproves it.

Anyway, my point is, real heads up play is very different indeed to what is shown above.

In reply to earlier post: I'm from a city where you get sent to if you're being ignored. Often referred to as Houventry by Leicester players. I don't know why they coined that peculiar name.
Any statistical swings would surely just be a RNG slightly out of true and nothing more sinister, although I thought they were all strictly audited to prevent this sort of anomoly being present.
No updates on shill bots or the like, everything is quiet at the moment and the money is slowly creeping in.

I did watch the Youtube vid, I think I've seen it before, but still remarkable nonetheless. I think I'm way off the mark in achieving proper heads up play. I may be able to squeeze some juice out of £5/£10 and £20-£50 if the opponent is right, but it makes me wonder how much I really understand the game and how easy it would be for a versed player to take me out the comfort zone and fleece my cash.

I've been watching Gob Bluth play and your analysis seems spot on. I enclose another transcript of his chat. I think he just likes arguing for the sake of it when things don't go his way. At one point he pushed all in for 10-15BB with AJ and his opponent called with AK and he spiked his jack. Not a comment. Vice versa and he'd be whailing like a banshee.

you have SO MUCH live poker on your doorstep. plenty of local casinos but I'd recommend heading over to the Walsall Grosvenor which is off J10 of the M6, or you could keep going to Brum and check out the Broadway which is a beautiful place. although it's further, you could head an hour up the M1 to Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham, the largest poker room in Europe.

Thanks for the locations. I thought I might try a couple of friendly pub games first as I have NO live poker experience, bar playing with mates a couple of times. I will work my way up to Walsall no doubt, maybe even Notts, who knows.

I had the ulimate in compliments tonight. Playing Gob-Bluth and he told me never to play him again as I was too good and it wasn't fair on him as he's there to make a living. I won in 7 hands playing him heads up (higher two pair). I typed a cheeky 'gg' and that started him off. I would have cut and pasted but the table closed and all text was lost.

The cards are being reasonably friendly. I've really had to nag at customer services, but it has paid off

i have a little pop at partygaming a few weeks ago regarding their cashout charge,they inserted a 400 dollar feature into the rng on one of their slots wednesday night as a way to apologise.i thanked them wholeheartedly for this in the comments box on cashout ,they still wanted another 2.50 off me to get it lol,i can take a joke though.

if you want a pub game JG ,you should consider "the nuts poker league "
you must have several games near you weekly.
it's a few quid to play and this covers food ,plus they'll have a small pot if you want to pay extra to join it .

btw it's a piece of p155 to qualify for the regional final if you've had a few final table finishes.

My nearest poker league is in that pub Ady was barred from for doing the Six Shooter. It's not 'The Nuts PL' though. Bonus food sounds good, so will check it out. All that regional qualifier stuff rings a bell, a mate of mine from Bristol got to a regional final, or a final final and narrowly missed a plane to Vegas.
Loads of pubs doing it now. Pop in, have a chat about the details, sly look at the fruit. Move on.

As for customer services, totally agree. Come to think of it, I haven't done remotely well in any mtts recently, so a good moan about that, should push the old DOOM switches down to LOW settings to enable a top three finish.

On a SERIOUS note. I won a £10 stt heads up against someone and they said "I hop u get cancer and ur kids gt raped"

Now, that is not particularly sporting, also it's not a one off. If I complain, what are the chances that anything gets done about it? I think this person needs a lesson in common courtesy and I know the chat is logged.
