'hand histories or it did'nt happen'

o.k,i just played in a 45 man 10 dollar plus a dollar game.
i was playing pretty tight and not being a mug.
i'm not in too good shape ,but i'm not far off the final table if i play my cards right.there's a platinum star with a shark rating on the other side of the table . i'm all in with ace, king.here's what happened next ,we're looking at hand #3 ,ignore the rant in hand #2 :D and indeed anything after hand #3

i can just about comprehend how someone would call on the lowstack he was on ,but it's still a bit 'funky' as you'd say.

You're going to get a stern ticking off from PP for your conduct in round 2 Mr Lugsy, so prepare for that one in advance.

Let's break this down.

Blinds 300/600. Antes of 50. 8 handed. 9 seats.

I'm not a Kakapo parrot.

PokerStars Game #33593167939: Tournament #200610224, $11+$1 USD
Hold'em No Limit - Level IX (300/600) - 2009/10/03 15:20:02 ET

*** SHOW DOWN ***
m_2508: shows [3s 6d] (two pair, Sixes and Threes)
mr lugsy: shows [Kh As] (a pair of Kings)
m_2508 collected 3920 from pot
*** SUMMARY ***

Seat 2: -pacmanx63- (small blind) folded before Flop
Seat 3: m_2508 (big blind) showed [3s 6d] and won (3920) with two
pair, Sixes and Threes
Seat 4: msusyr24 folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 6: mr lugsy showed [Kh As] and lost with a pair of Kings
Seat 8: ivemetquizmaster folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 9: Kasper 819 (button) folded before Flop (didn't bet

m_2508 only has one decision to make in this round.
Stake an extra 1060 to win a 3920 pot.

Before we go any further, what is the prize structure and full mtt stats? How many players left? How close to the bubble?

Assuming you've got any combination of broadways or pocket pairs, 6 3 stacks up at, well he's about 15% to win against most pocket pairs 7,7 and above, he's squeezed to slightly less if you see 6s or 3s and 5s, 4s level up to a 22% win rate with lowly 2s being far more flippy and only slight favourite against 6 3. Most broadways leave him 35% to win.
At a horribly vague guestmate, he has to be thinking he'll bag it 1 in 4 times if you've been playing tightly, but now have about 4BBs and need to make a move with something.

So he'll lose 1060 3 times for every time he wins 3920. Probably a mathematically viable play, induced by a poker stat player analyser. Maybe he sees himself on code red being shortstacked himself, they're mighty blinds and doesn't fancy folding and seeing a 300+50 next round with little hammer if no action.

I wouldn't have called in his situation, maybe he saw that as the point he HAD to defend his blinds no matter what. A last ditch effort to save the ship sinking below 1k.

It's slightly funky, more so as a 3 6 call is so counter intuitive but not horribly funky. My funkiest hand is on a cash game on Full Tilt with pocket 4s (unraised BB) losing on a flop on 9,4,9, I lost to 9,j and 9,k (I think) as the turn and river came k, j!!! Still that never happenned as no hand history.

I would have folded my 3,6os to your raise, probably incorrectly. Let our resident analyst Peter, please step forward.

when i went out a couple of hands later, the table closed, with me out in tenth thus starting the final table.i'm a hundred percent that i made the right play ,and that's all you can do,but if i were the other guy ,that 6,3 is way behind any conceivable hand i'm playing that late in a game.i'd rather lose the blind in this situation and move in with a few hundred more than the blind next time all in .this close to the bubble puts alot of players off calling and the fact he was platinum commands him some respect if it's completely un warranted,i'd definately rather face 2 players next hand with something that's hardly gonna be worse, unless ....i knew what the flop was gonna be

I'm afraid it's as simple as he gave up after a probable long string of bad hands, said "Ah fuck it." and stuck it in.

after that you're only a 2/1 favourite which means it's not that big of an out draw.

thought you were going to show us something bad :D

just re-read it.
It's his big blind isn't it?
he has 1710
puts in 50 ante and 600 BB
he can't leave that behind.
with blinds, antes and the portion of your bet he can actually match the pot is
6x50 + 300 + 600 + 1060 = 2260
his call is pretty sound unless he knows for a fact you have an over pair.
even then , if he passes he knows he has to put his 350 of remaining 1060 in before he's even seen his cards next hand, meaning he's commited to that.

looking at it again, I think his call with 6,3 is perfectly justifiable

Absolute rubbish. That was negative flop equality and certainly negative turn equality. I would never move in with less than a king as even with a chip stack of one you can win tournaments by holding out. Phil Helman's won the 2002 world series of poker by blinding out the competitors with just 37 chips, by the time he won the final table, he had just one chip to his name. The only excusable play by the 63 may heve been that he was bluffing, even then I usually bluff with a minimum of a jack, just in case.

lol. there's such a thing as too much reading.
It's a $10 short field tourney, not the WSOP.
The guy has 38% of his stack in preflop.
I would personally pass and put the remaining chips in blind on the SB same as you.
As I said, the fact is, he's given up and stuck it in and miraculously he's actually getting the right price for the hand match up.

Also, who the hell is Phil Helman?
