Bling Bling
I lost 20quid on this machine last night. I swear never to put notes in a gambler again what a waste of money. I normally dont do anymore than 5quid(ish) in a machine at once and this dirty machine woke me up a bit to never go all in again. It gave me a megastart only to give me 1-2quid each time. I'll stick to my 5quid wins and walk off with a few free pints infuture.
This is obviously pennies for some of you guys but to me thats money I really cant afford and see as a big waste. Dont get me wrong having a wicked lads night out and whackin a few quid in is a laugh but I wont be doing that again in a hurry.
Quick q....if the machine all of a sudden decides not to accept notes does that mean its not paying?

Judging by what you said, it sounds like one minute it was accepting notes and the next minute it wasn't.
The only reason it wouldn't accept notes is when there is a blockage, or the hopper level is too low. One wise guy tried to tell me not to play a Rocket Money because the red X was flashing away on the notey; to him this meant the machine was running empty - to me the backing coins and the ARB1 boards told me otherwise

This machine may at times offer a choice where the player has every chance of bankruptcy

That would make sense as it took a dodgy 5quid note torn to hell off me

I was pretty miffed about 20quid down the drain like that. I suppose im just a careful player and too tight with my money which is good as I dont want to get addicted.
I wish I was tight - I wouldn't go blowing half of mine in fruitiesmr2nut wrote:That would make sense as it took a dodgy 5quid note torn to hell off me![]()

Just to finish off the point about note acceptors: another reason for seeing the red X on the notey can be that the landlord has had them disabled for one reason or another; the supplier has sited a machine in a pub where the brewer has not agreed to pay the extra cost for the facility, but that the supplier didn't want to completely remove the notey; or simply that someone has been using the notey for change.
I've seen one person doing that recently - they wanted to play the machine in the pub next door which had no notey, and presumably the barman wouldn't change up his notes - so he'd gone to a machine WITH a notey and played out the £2 of credits and collected the remaining £18. Repeating this a few times and suddenly the hopper level starts to dwindle, yet the machine is still as happy/unhappy as it was before so it knows it must retain enough coins to pay out wins, and on goes the red X.
This is a problem in itself because a machine could quite conceivably be £120 light; yet happy - but a lot of us I know wouldn't risk playing it incase it had just streaked big.

On this machine i'm always weiry of taking features as all it does is seem to take 4quid away and give you 2 or 3 back and you end up slowly losing your money. So lets say the machine is ready to pay out a good 15quid or so, if you were to take a feature that normally doesnt pay so good, will this pay out a big sum as the machine is legally ready to pay its percentage?Stopnstep wrote:Thats why it is always best to try a couple of features. Low floats don't always mean hammered machines.
Personally, I think you should stop asking questions, or SEARCH THE FORUM.mr2nut wrote:

Each machine in the uk has at least 2 topics on here, probably much more. Hell, I can remember there was about 6 space raiders topics at one point in the barcrest section.
First of all, ace sig pic i've got a tshirt with that on lol. Secondly, it's hardly doing any damage opening a new thread it keeps forums alive if everyone just looked at old threads it wouldn't be as good imo.Dunhamzzz wrote:Personally, I think you should stop asking questions, or SEARCH THE FORUM.mr2nut wrote:

What i meant by that is try a couple of boards, you can more or less tell whether to push on or not from what it is offering.mr2nut wrote:On this machine i'm always weiry of taking features as all it does is seem to take 4quid away and give you 2 or 3 back and you end up slowly losing your money.
