barcrest 5's can be changed to any game, in the centre of the board, you have an extra board that clips out, in there you have EPROMS, if you look on the EPROMS you will see the game name usually stuck onto them, Game roms and sound roms - these can be changed

yes i did, but when he said

'also can you interchange the pic chip (if pic is not working) for different games?'

I assumed he was referring to the eproms as this is were the game data is!! Was just trying to make the guy understand a little easier so he could understand and know that the games are stored on eproms and were he can find them, is this ok??

sorry to confuse I ment to say

'also can you interchange the pic chip (if pic is not working) FROM different games?' (program cards)

the gal chip cannot - its used to stop people just copying the eproms
for updates etc - so you have to pay each machine update .

Anyway no one seems to know the answer - what does the 16c54 pic do?

I used to be a tech a few years ago repairing arcade machines mainy

I have to say I honestly don't know the answer to your question.
Never had to do much with MPU5 - it's such a reliable tech that it rarely needs attention.

thanks anyway aaamusments
A few people have the same problem with vivid machines
on different fruit machine sites but no one seems to have fixed it!
might be a software thing and needs reseting somehow..

I still think its down to the meter being changed!..

Funnnnnyyy thread lol pic chips are interchangable.... they control the characteristics of the software and will only work with the software if it corresponds to the jackpot ie wont work if you try and use a £35 pic with £70 software, (also called a character chip think about it)
