Barcrest Lucky strike MPU4 coin mech issue
Barcrest Lucky strike MPU4 coin mech issue
Hi All,
Hoping for some advise and help please.
The above machine as an older version of the 126 cashflow coin mech, that accepts older coins.
I want to use either a newer version 126 or a C435A coin mech.
when either of the new mech's are in the machine i'm getting an alarm of 5P SW ALM and the machine is locked out.
Do I need to re wire the inhibit or flick a switch or what ever to get past this?
All my other machines are rede gaming and Barcrest with MPU5 tech in side and the coin mechs I have are working fine in these machines.
I have attached some photos for reference.
thanks
Robbie

Coin mech issue solved
Hi All,
just thought I let you know how I fixed the alarm on the MPU4 Lucky strike machine I have.
I downloaded the MPU4 manual and found a pinout diagram for the main connector to the coinmech. Using this I disconnected the wire from the block that on the newer mechs is present, but on the older mech is not present.
Re-connected the coin mech ( a C435A) and no more alarms. Jobs Oxo.
Coin mech is now accepting EURO coins and routing correctly.
Now to sort out the Hopper!!!

Previous owner or someone else had the hopper unit out as the payout side was not facing the tube to direct to front of machine.
Anyway, stripped it out, positioned it correctly and also resetted the spring as it was not sitting properly.
Now machine accepts and diverts coins correctly, I win a few quid and at the end of game when I press collect, nothing happens and then an error will appear, Call manager, hopper requires XX pnd, or words to that effect.
I think its a powering issue

Does the hopper work in test?.
Check that no wiring got caught when you put the payout shelf back,it might have pulled the 5 pin plug out the board on the underside of the hopper.
Check all the plugs and wiring from the hopper back to the MPU.
With the payout tube the coins will have to be above the sensor level or it will lock up on payout,if not enough coins just slide the sensor up the tube to make the machine think it's full.
Turn the refill key and press the hopper top up switch, this will set the hopper to full but you will have to fill it by hand with the amount of coins you want in it as all £ coins will be directed to the cash box.

No, the spring is the one that allows the coin to be "shot" out of the hopper into the payout tube.aaamusements.co.uk wrote:Which spring do you mean?romax wrote:Anyway, stripped it out, positioned it correctly and also resetted the spring as it was not sitting properly.
Is it the type where the weight of the hopper presses a switch down against the resistance of a spring when the level is sufficient?
Thanks for the reply, machine doctor wrote:Does the hopper work in test?.

I have checked the wiring is ok. I also replaced the hopper with a known working one and still the same. Could it be the hopper controller board?
Thanks

For the moment, I've bought a hopper controller on feabay, so I'll try that first, failing that then, I'll concider changing the MPU, but this started out as a simple enough coin mech job and has turned into a hell job. Who knows what could happen next.
thanks for all the help so far, I'll let you know how it goes when the board arrives.

Well, the part arrived yesterday and last night I pulled the machine back into the garage, decided to power it up FIRST before i do anything and the MF unit is now displaying funny charactors on the LED panel and is locking up with the reels in the seven's position and the lights flashing.
Looks like I'll have to strip out the MPU and check it for corrision, damn machine
Or it'll get the baseball bat, one or the other
