1: there is no free play switch, but you can play in demo mode with door open.

2: 10p's and 5's changed fairly recently, your mech will probably be programmed for the older coins, this can be fixed by reprogomming or replacing the mech with a newwer one.

3: bottom door switch must be in open position and refil key turned for the hopper dump button to work. in some machines you need to hold the button in for 3 seconds also.

thanks drew. couple of questions for anyone who can help. the coin payout in 20p's always seems to be at least one coin short. i had what i believe to be a solonoid off the machine and there was a peice of maybe 3 or 4mm cardboard wedged under the solonoid which i removed. it was paying short with and without the cardboard. any ideas or fixes. i have tried to get coin dump by opening and removing front lower door. opening the cash door, turning fill key then pressing the spring loaded rocker switch just inside cash door. just get a kerrching sound like till drawer opening but no coin dump. there is a red button inside back door just under the 1.00 coin bank box which when pressed makes same kerrching sound any ideas please.

To dump:
open bottom door,
let machine reboot itself then turn your refill key to put it into refill mode,
Press and hold the button that is nearest the coin drawers at the bottom (usuallyinside the cubby hole)
Sound indicates it is ready to dump. Press start to dump.

The other button sounds like it may be the test mode button.
If you can add a picture of the inside of the machine showing everything then we can tell what tech it is.
The cardboard wedge implies that it's had issues before and someones found a quick bodge-fix lol.

Some machines have an additional dump method if i remember right, either hold cancel and turn refill key or hold start and turn key.
I don't use this method but have accidently triggered it a few times whilst trying to faff about changing volumes.
Main method mentioned is standard dumping procedure.
On Barcrests/Red Gamings i dump twice to make sure the menu accountancy is correct, because i often flick the refill key to see how much is in.

Easiest way to dump it is by entering tedt mode.

(hold big red button on mpu for 3 seconds)

test 1 coins, youll work it out
