JPM Caesars palace club fruit machine power loss

Post by Barberman »

I've just managed to pick this little beauty up but I'm having a problem with the power. The light comes on but the reels don't go round and on start up makes a loud sound. Would it be something to do with the power supply itself or something loose somewhere? Any advice would be appreciated thanks... Update.. I have now had a thorough look inside. No external lights come on but all the lights on the power supply are on. Does this mean the supply itself is ok or just the fuses?? Also there are small individual lights on the reels that are on and also a green light by the coin mechanism. Some power must be getting through to power these so maybe not a faulty power supply. I'm completely stuck! Again any light shed would be appreciated

I have a very similar problem but doesn't make the loud noise mine is a JPM Stardust with an Impact mother board.
Power getting to main board LEDs on reels light up and a light on main board I have checked the main power supply and all volt are in line with the wiring diagrams
I was wondering if the machine has been out of use for to long could the main mother board have forgotten its program it had been turned off for over two years.

probably the processor board is damaged due to battery leaking.

impact technology is notorious to fault find on.

could be:

1: faulty motherboard
2: faulty processor board
3: faulty sound board
4: faulty eprom board
5: faulty eproms
6: faulty power supply

or a mixture of the above

on top of that the connectors on the mother board are pretty shitty and can cause problems

I have tried a couple of mother boards still the same problems

Has to be the PSU but volts all read okay on test with a multi meter

Well had a good look today
I have a box of 4 x motherboards and 5 processor boards had a good look at all of them and no leaks or damage to boards
One of the mother boards looked brand-new and sealed in bubble wrap so fitted this
In turn I fitted each and every one of the processor boards but still the same no sign of power except for the LEDs on the reels and the reset LED lights, the status LED stays off.
Sound card works as I can hear a very slight low hum from it.
When Turned on all the 5 LEDs light up on the main PSU when turned off two remain on for a short while then fade out.

It seems to be the PSU need to find one to try it out

Just back from more checks

Have checked the battery voltage on the processors boards they range from .05v .90v to 1.50v so all battery holding bit of a charge even if not much.

I have checked voltage to the main power plug to the mother board the voltages are a little high but looks like the PSU is fine

Wire....................Stated Voltage..........My Voltage
1 Orange/Red ...................+5v .....................+5.2v
2 Ground Green ....................................................
3 Orange /black .............. +24v .................... +30v
4 Green /Orange ..................0v ...................... 0v
5 Blank ................................................................
6 Purple............................ +12v ................. +14.9v
7 Pink ............................. -12v ................. -14.8v
8 Grey............................... +50v ................. +56.8v
9 Green/ Black........................ 0v ................. 0v
10 Orange /Red.......................+5v ................. +5.2v
11 Purple..............................+12v ................. +14.7v
12 Ground Green.......................................................

Everything is looking just fine but the dam thing just won't boot up.

power supply looks fine, under load when machine boots the voltasges will reduce..

now im thinnking faulty eproms.
also i think its possible for the eprom board, processor board and sound board to get mixed up and polugged into wrong slots on the motherboard.

some are keyed and some not

have a l;ook , see if its possibe for the processor board or eprom board to fit a diffrent slot.
fom memory there are 4 slots with only 3 boards, if u see what i mean

Been there, processor board only fits in three of the 4 slots will not fit slot one

Sound board will fit all slots.

You can tell where they have been fitted there is a band of foam to stop the boards resting on the metal case, there are only two marks in the foam where the boards have rested on in the past.

Sound board has to fit in one of the first two slots or the wire attached to it would be to short for it to fit anywhere else, so processor board just fit in the other slot that has marks in the foam.

I did move them around and try other slots, still the same problem no change
