Hi,my homers meltdown works fine now but has a problem.It had a new battery a few weeks ago and its connected and working.But everytime i turn it on it alarms and display shows mem reset.And the volume goes back to a preset level.Very annoying,any ideas why its doing that,thanks in advance

your new battery hasnt been fitted correctly, machine is loosing memory when u switch it off..

hi buzzer,it was working when battery was fitted,but after a couple of weeks its not,according to my meter the battery is connected

sounds like the battery isn't charging then, could be a duff battery or the battery isn't soldered correctly to the charging part of the pcb.
what voltage are you reading across the battery?

last time i checked it was 2.4 volt,it only has 2 solder points so assume if it was keeping memory before it should charge aswell

it has only two solder points but there will be multible tracks running off it.
is the board dual layered? needs soldered on both sides?
