Barcrest Ooh Aah Dracula Problem

Hi peeps.

Picked this one up today & the damn thing keeps resetting on me.

You'll be half-way though playing it & it switches off, then on again.

Sometimes it will shout "Check It Out" & gives alarm code 30-52 Mux Unit Failed.

Also had a message like UNIT 0, CMD b, Error 1.

It did give a software check message too at some point.

Anyone have any ideas as to what could be the problem.

Not sure if I need to replace the PSU & Main board.

Many thanks,

Pete

if it only does it halfway through playing it, then play it for half as long?

lol, only kidding, someone should be able to help you, although my old machine used to reset a lot if you used an extention cable instead of straight into a socket?

LOL, that's a good idea.
After it resets the first time (about 20 mins into playing it), it then resets every 5 mins thereafter.

I am running through an extension lead, but the guy I bought it off also had the same problem & he had it straight into a socket if I recall.

The software check error I think was something like C48A & AL90.

Many thanks,

Pete

wring to your 'mux board' perhaps.

usually situated at the top of the machine in newer crests, (drives the lamps,)

either that or you have a short on one if the lamp diodes.

thats for the alarming

if it is just reseting check the 5v wire from PSU to MPU, sometime the heat from the power supply can cause the metal pins in the loom to expand and come loose

Hi Reel King,

Thanks for your reply.

I have removed all the plugs to the Mux board & re-seated them.
All the plugs on the MPU5 board aswell.

I do have the MPU5 Field Service Manual.
Will it show me the lamp diodes in there so I can take a look?
Are they easy to fix?

I'll check the 5v wire shortly.

It resets randomly while playing, but it does remember the amount of plays left & how much money in bank (I had to change DIL switch from direct pay to NO as it was annoying paying out all the time.)
Saying that, after 2 resets, it did forget this info.

Codes I have had so far are.........
90-41 C48A Software Error
AL90
30-52 Mux Board Failed

Many thanks for your help.

Hi all,

Ok, little update.

When I said above I had re-seated all connectors on the MUX5 board & MPU5 board, I hadn't actually tested the machine afterwards as I didn't get round to it.
I was doing some work upstairs & replied to Reel King's post.

Well, I have now had the machine on for around 2-3 hours & all seems well.
It hasn't reset or alarmed at all.

So, it looks like problem solved for now.
If anything else happens, I'll re-post.

Thanks to Spyder & Reel King fot their input & advice.

Many thanks,

Pete
