Maygay - Simpsons fault PSU

Post by ArmChair »

yesterday I was given a fruit machine for free, only downside is its faulty.

I believe it has a fault power supply, is it possible to buy a replacement?

this is the one in question

It was working before my friend moved house.

The power comes on, but there is a buzzing noise and nothing lights up on the displays or LEDs. Im just picking at straws to be honest.

There's power there then. More likely be the epoch. They really are shit and always go wrong.

Very, you just got to get one. Keep an eye on ebay for a working board, not a 'it's been in storage for a while, it did work' board ;)

There's only 3 or 4 connections to it, shame you don't know anyone who has a machine that runs on these boards? Could have checked and made sure. A working board will set you back around £30.

Thanks!

Is there a model number of the board?

Nope. Just a standard, only 1 type epoch board.

the problem with epoch tech is that there is not one main board,

you have a cpu board, lamp driver board, stakes/prizes board, , meter/hopper/mech driver board, reel driver board.

all of which are connected by series of ribbon seriel cables, which are also prone to broken cables/connectors...

a fault in any one of these boards or cables could generate the fault condition you are experiening.. (as well as a power supply/ eeprom fault)

epoch technology is the worst awp technology ever released by a country mile... :)
seasoned machine engineers have great difficulty fault finding on theses machines.

normal practice was to swop out parts (you know to be good) until the fault stopped, which unfortunately you will not have the luxury of...

got to ask yourself if you want to spend a few quid on the machine (with no guarrented success), bearing in mind that epoch tech has been obsolete for a number of years now..
