Vivid Machine PND OPTO BLOCKED msg

Post by jubbely »

Hi all,

First time poster. I have Vivid Pie Factory Machine and just trying to rebott it up after about a year or so of inactivity. All worked fine before. The error is get is

A17
ALARM 17-83
PND OPTO BLOCKED
TAMPER

and a verbal message telling me to check it out

I did a few searches on here and have taken the hopper out, unscrewed the covers and got down to the yellow circle with 4 holes in it. Some cash was in there, so I cleared that out by turning the mechanism (seemed fairly stiff and only went round one way). The coins were all ejected ok. Some were quite dirty old coins. I cleaned the area off of dust and replaced everything, but I am still getting the same message. I read about an 'opto' but I don;t know what that means. Underneath the yellow circle was a red lever type thing that pushed the coins down through the rest of the hopper area so coins fell out.

Any help appreciated please!

Cheers
Jub

Thanks, but what am I actually looking for? I have a hopper with a yellow circle at the bottom of it, and then under that is some plastic stuff. Do I need to completely remove the unit so I can get underneath it then? And what actually is it?

There will be a rectangular slot in the side of the disk/motor assembly through which the coin ejects, the opto is there.

you are looking for a square about 5mm square usually, normally a blacky colour, when you turned that yellow wheel and the coins went out, as there going out it will pass this square and counts the coins - its an OPTO Sensor, if its drity it thinks there is a coin stuck on it as it cant count anymore - if that makes sense. Chances are its probs not even dirty, ive had no end of these hoppers knacker up as the opto itself goes short or open as they run via IR leds, which wear down after about 5 years
