Living at home and being unable to trust family members sounds utterly miserable to me. Without knowing the ins and outs i'd say that your brother is probably bitter because you have a surfeit of cash at your disposal, and it most probably doesn't seem to him as though you are doing much to earn it, whereas he is obviously struggling, has a kid to look after and a drug habit. What motive would he have for keying your car? Jealousy.

Smoking weed makes you very lazy and purposeless (I should know), and i'd consider giving him a slap and tell him to wake up to his responsibilities before it gets any worse for him.

What have your parents said?
I agree here, you should move out. Its not that hard, I've done it, I was totally alone and I managed the household chores. If women can do them, why can't men? SEXIST COMMENT OR WHAT????????? LOL

Pay someone to do your washing ironing, plenty of places do this. When you get a nice bird she can do it if she's worthy of moving in with you. Can't live with the parents forever. Look at this as a reason to move out. I would seriously try to find out what's up with your brother rather than just condemn him. Brothers are very valuable commodities (you are to him at the moment, LOL).. but seriously, remember what Vin Diesel says in Fast And Furious - you don't abandon your family, or something lilke that.... its in the trailer for Fast And Furious 6.

Just make sure you go see the family often enough, don't lose contact. You'll enjoy the freedom, that's for sure.

Titchno you should try and keep accounts of what you're making and know how much you have saved. If the police raid your house because of something your brother does then you'll need to be able to explain where the money came from or they'll take it and you won't get it back. They'll probs try and pin money laundering on you or dealing if they find drugs in your brothers room.

Don't look for a new GF and then a flat, try and find one with a flat, kill two birds.

The earlier you leave the comfort of home the better in my opinion, as it teaches you to look after yourself. If you are making and managing money responsibly then you should be able to afford decent accommodation. Learning how to use a washing machine/iron etc is no more difficult than learning a new method for a machine, and picking up these skills early in life is vital.

Nearly 15 years ago when I was 20 I was making no less than a grand a week but took the easy option and stayed at home paying a token £50 a month to continue living at home with meals etc all thrown in, an easy life. Because of this I knew I had a safety net, and would piss the proceeds of my labour up the wall, namely in casinos, buying expensive clothes etc and cocaine binges, knowing I could just go home, raid the fridge and go to bed afterwards.

My brother took a different approach and saved hard. He purchased a 2 bedroom flat and never looked back, and is now set up nicely in life, whereas i'm not.

So get out early, it will benefit you in the long run.

Just don't tell your brother where you have moved to...

Yeah that's sad but true, you MUST NOT tell him where you live!

Oscar, have you ever felt like keying your brother's car? LOL

Dark Horse makes the most important point of all, you will look like a dealer, you might even go to prison for something you've clearly not done! I'd get out fast mate, you've got a job, you might have to inflate your income a bit because these agencies do look at your income and if your bank account isn't showing regular income its not gonna help you at all. I had to go to a dodgy bugger who got me a place, I ended up losing my deposit because of it.

Straight in to rent you think then? Or save until end of year and buy some were. My part time job pays 400-500 a month. Surely that should cover mortgage in case it ends and I can straight in to a job. Iv told my self I'm startin fresh from today. I'm just going to bank everything.

Personally I'd try to rent somewhere ASAP. I was paying £1200 a month in a pretty nice 2 bedroom flat in west London but I know its a lot cheaper up north. Dunno how you're gonna get a good and legal place with the wages you're on though - maybe they aren't so thorough up there but down here they were telling me to rent a place I needed to be earning £2500 a month and have the statements and all that to prove it... that's why I went to Dodgy Bloke!

Its cheap up north but surely not that cheap!!! I'd very much doubt you'd walk into a mortgage to be honest, not unless youve got a hefty deposit to put down.

Up north you can probably buy an end terrace for a couple of grand in certain areas.

not showing 500 a month earnings surely not.the days of mortgage brokers 'making them fit' are over

income and expenditure exercise would show next to nothing left after food, utilities, council tax, petrol etc....even if the credit check went through o.k.

Indeed, Lugsy, I know this first hand and he has to either go to a dodgy property renting git or he's gonna have to sit it out at home while he cleverly deposits certain amounts in his bank account at certain times. I would recommend getting more than 1 and actually being frank with your bank manager and tell them what you do. Dump most of what you make in 1 account, dump the amounts you need to show you're earnign in the other one but MAKE IT REGULAR and set amounts!

Yeah I know it's him. But their is that bit in my head talking mysel out of it that iv miss counted or something etc. but it's been like that the last year or so. Iv not miss counted and the bank hasn't Iva.

This might sound daft but..... When I think about renting I just think about giving my money away to some baldy landlord that does fuck all.

I'm going to have a look in to private renting a nice flat. If the price is right ill move out.
