Changing up or banking coins

Post by titchno1 »

Right lads just need some advice. I'm playing a lot more now so once iv saved up in the house is there an easier way than bagging up in 20's and going round local shops etc. I'm sure I tried to put some in bank a while ago and they could only do a set amount, say it was 5 for example. What about them cloth bags that hold 500. Can i take a one off them? Main reason being my car insurance is due and it's coming out my dads account so i need to use his bank and most my money is pound coins. What about if I bag it and just take it all down and ask to put it bank will they turn me away? All help appreciated cheers.

Some banks limit the amount but most don't give a fuck.

Building societies normally limit to 5 bags tho.

HSBC don't have a limit. Halifax and Santander only allow 5 coin bags per customer. Not per account per day.

You can only put 5 x £20 bags in Lloyds for some reason, i've never quite understood that rule, a bank that don't take money????

Do what i do and change up in a services, open the door, load up with coins and it converts them into £20 notes, simples.

Theres a coin changing machine in the services, you open a door, load it up with coins, close the door, wait for the green light, press the button and out come the notes, no charge either.

Really? That's Mint. I'll have a look in gala and meccas then. The change machine I know of you have to load up manually just like a fruit machine fingers are cramping up at 200 mark. Iv often loaded 200 up pressed for notes and it spits my coins back out nightmare.

The ones in servos/bingo halls have doors, you can put 3/4 handfuls in no danger.

Going back to the banks 5 bag rule, god knows why they do this? What its the problem if you want to change £500 coins as long as they're bagged up? They've only got to weigh them, its not like they've got to count them? Also banks charge business's for change so why not accept more and sell it on, would make sense?

That would make sense, obviously weight wise there won't be much in it, so weighing a load up you could get had over i suppose.
