I'm sure Mike will have something to say.
It's was the easiest strike ballot to do though really, If you were told you'd got pay more & work longer to receive less pension at the end I'm sure you'd be up for a Strike.
Simple fact is, these gold plated pensions that the numerous goverments have continued to dish out aren't sustainable with the way the world is changing and people living a lot longer.
From a parents perspective, I can get prosecuted, fined and even prison for not sending my Kids to school, yet today they've turned round and said my kids are not welcome.

I can see the Governments point on everything, and im one of the 2M.
My understanding of politics though is poor. I do love a rowdy house of commons though at PMQs. My brother and I recorded the 2003 Budget and put it on DVD. Oh how we loved Iain Duncan Smiths response

I'm a Labour supporter, but the last government created millions of non jobs ( walks organiser, 5 a day coordinator etc) that are now unsustainable. I haven't got a guaranteed job for life and if I cock up at work I can get sacked (THREE teachers were sacked in the last year. Look how many kids now leave school that can not even read and write, which is a national scandal).
Plus approximately 1/6 of my council tax pays for the pensions of workers. I know several are poorly paid.
I have just had my first pay rise (3%) in five years. Everybody has to tighten their belts.
Get back to work.
ps Several public services are continuing as normal.

Im from an unknown part of the public sector, we could all go on strike for 6 months and nobody would notice

I'm all for the strikes, I'm pretty sure that nobody on here would be happy if after being promised something 20 years previously, the rules were suddenly changed and the pension that you had been planning for was cut after you had to work two years longer to get it.
I'm not so sure however as to how much some of the teaching staff in this country deserve their pay/pension. Even with some of the unruly kids they have to try and teach.

Yeah, the last Conservative manifesto promised up they would contribute 8% to minimum payments and no resiting of machines for a minimum of 6 weeks. Liars.
I don't want to be doing skillstops at the age of 68, and the price of lime and soda has shot up way beyond the rate of inflation.
